Once again, it isn't gm's fault.
They have no control over what dealers charge

it has nothing to due with GM, its the dealers. Also its simple economics, if something is in demand and low quantity its gonna get sold for more then it is worth

Or it could be that the dealer is just greedy as can be...

heck out the thread on dealers that are not gouging. You might find one near you that is on the "good" list.
I am ready to drive out of state to order mine. I am not paying more than MSRP.

Only thing worse than dealers with big mark ups is a dealer who wont honor a deal written when the car was ordered. At least with a dealer who does markups you know where you stand and might be able to talk him down a little. Mark ups are still unacceptable!

I am gonna be on this every chance I get.

So if supply goes up do you think dealers would still have these crazy mark ups?

Unfortunately, you live in SoCal so you can expect you will have to endure not having a Camaro for awhile longer unless you pay the mark-up or willing to put in time and effort and call around and pray a dealer will sell at MSRP. Generally yes, when dealers start to have more of the new car in their inventory, they need to move them so they'll be willing to negotiate. Supply and demand..pretty elementary.

Dude, they figure people in LA got money to throw around. And they figure sooner or later, someone will be willing to fork out $7,000 above MSRP for a Camaro. Once they start sitting on the lot for a couple months, they'll lower the price.

I would expect markups to last until after the holiday season at the very least.

When you're ready to buy, contact A.J. at Mark Christopher Chevrolet in Ontario, Calif. 909-230-0832. They sell at MSRP both for orders and if you're buying off the lot. If you order, Karl who's in charge of ordering there is good about keeping you updated on your order status.

GREED!! the bad thing is... there are STUPID people out there that let them get away with it. If you look, you can find a HONEST dealer out there! My Car Description:
1ET37 - 2SS
LS3 - Engine
MN6 - 6 Speed Manual
Q9J - 20 Inch Polished Wheels
GAZ - Summit White
AE4 - Seats
AFO - Beige Leather
UYE - Boston Accoustics system
WRS - RS Package
CF5 - Power Sunroof

TOTAL: $ 35,577.85 I have the first White one in the area!

It was awesome! If anyone is in the market in the Atlanta, GA area... I HIGHLY Recommend the FOLLOWING DEALER and SALESMAN!!!

JOHN THORNTON Cheverolet
1971 Thronton Road
Lithia Springs, GA 30122

It is near SIX FLAGS so you can buy your car then go to the park to spend the excess excitement after signing your paper!

The Salesman you need to speak with is:
JIM THOMPSON (he is a member of camaro5 and is there for us)
(678) 322-1934
