Anyone have issues with clear coat and bird poop?

Need help! I've had the car a month now and had even waxed it a couple of weeks ago. Anyhow I walk outside today and there was two bird droppings on the roof. I was in a hurry going somewhere so I figured I'd get to it later in the day. The droppings could not have been on the car more than 24 hrs more likely 12. Anyhow all the stuff washed away no problem, but when I walked around the car and looked across the roof I noticed the outline of the splatters where still there . Upon closer inspection the whole area where the poop was looked to have damaged/smudged the clear coat finish. I tried continuously washing the area and even using zanos all in one cleaner polish, but very little if any change. The only think I can think of to do is claying the area and re-polishing. Anyone else have any ideas or solutions ? Thanks. I've never had a finish on any of my cars and 3 other camaros be smudged like that hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Yep, mine did that as well...

Can only be taken out wetsanded. Took her up to friend who manages body shop at Chevy dealer. It is from the acid in bird crap.

Would claying work the same?

Clay takes sediments out..what you have is etching of the clearcoat. You can wetsand yourself with 2000 grit...but better left to a pro.

Well most of the time a cheap wax will be put on the car when the dealers do make ready prep. If you don't want to spend money on Zanio there are a couple others cheaper that are good. Look in Cosmetics Forum.

Good luck to you...hope you get the "spot" out.............good to know that "sooner, rather than later" is important in that type of situation...I always try my best to remove it ASAP, however, that's not always possible......

I have 2 coats of Zaino Z5 and 2 coats Z2 with 2 coats Grand Finale.

It didn't make a difference...

Heres the scoop on the poop..

If car is hot and a bird dumps and it dries, expect clearcoat damage. If car is cool, and bird takes a dump, damage is much less...Also depends on bird, diet and acid content.

That coming from two guys with 45 years in the paintbooth for GM.

Just get it off asap. it doesnt take long to stain. Dont just wipe it off, Bird crap has little tiny stones in it that will scratch the hell out of your car. pour hot water over it until its gone, try not to wipe it, but as soon as you see it get it off, once the sun hits it it doesn't take long to leave a mark. I know this because my slob ex wife left tons of it on her 50,000 tahoe and never cleaned it, stains everywhere now.

I haven't had this problem yet, BUT I have had a problem with scratches on the windshield. I stopped at a gas station and used the squeegee to clean off the bugs and when I got back in the car, I noticed light scratches on the glass.

I don't know if that can be fixed, so I'm rather upset about that.

Keep a couple rags and a bottle detailer spray in the trunk, keep the rags in a ziplock bag. Even if you don't have anything in the trunk at the time, if you have any bottled water with you just get it rinsed off asap.

Just get it off as soon as you can and try to keep a good coat of wax to protect the finish. Can't be running to the body shop for a wet sand every time a bird poops on your car.

It's been really hot down here so maybe that has something to do with it, but they have not been on for more than a few hours. I looked at a couple places on the car where there had been dropings days before and same thing. I would encourage anyone that has had droppings on their car look at it at an angle, especially with something reflecting off the hood and you may be in for a shock.

If the bird that pooped on your car has the same diet that the bird below has, you're in trouble every time..

This is disturbing as probably about 30 mins after I walked into work, a bird shit 3 times on my roof of my car. I didn't see it until about 4 hours after and I can't do anything about it because I work 12 hours. I ran some water and tried wiping, but I think I got to it to late.

This actually kind of pisses me off. This is the first day since I got my car and those little flying rats ruined the coat already >:(

I have never had this problem, but have it NOW.

Wife parked at work on a hot day and now we have one in the center of the trunk lid and another on the passenger door. SIM with a mark where you can see the clear coat is dimpled.

Pardon me but this CRAP..........

What kind of water did they paint my car with?

Is this a class action lawsuit in the making?

I have it too, on black. I watch the car constantly for this, and when I saw it, could have been there about 4 hours in 95 - 100 degree sun. Hit the hip of the car, and dripped down to the reflector on the drivers side, the drip line is still there. I had clay barred the car when I got it and put Zaino on it, but only 2 coats. That was a couple of months ago, but Z6 it regularly. It still left the mark. I have had black cars for over 15 years, and never remember this happening before.

Now I had an egg on my Infiniti once, done at night, got it off the next morning when dew was still on the car. Left a mark for sure... Other than that, this is all I had ever had happen.

I wonder why it seems to be so bad for the pain job on this car, is there a better protectant we need to apply to the car to repel this sort of thing. Because I agree there are times either you don't see it in time or can't get it off as quick as you like. And this s*&^ dries fast!!!!
