Anyone thought of this for car security?

I plan on putting in a 2 way paging alarm system in mine when it finally gets here but I thought about this...

anyone use a infrared game camera mounted in a good location to take photos of any little scumbags who would wanna mess with the car??? that way you can have a photo to show the cops if you don't catch 'em in the act..

This makes no sense. The camera won't hurt. Worst thing that can happen is someone will steal it. 2 way paging alarm is a must and does not hurt.

So go ahead and just don't worry about it but to say this camera our a good alarm addition would cause harm is just senseless.

Hidden somewhere but not on the vehicle. You place it and run test. Take out the memory card and it will have either pics or video.

I'm not spending that kind of money on mine but will most probably only drive it to work and back home. I have a garage and there are security camera's all over the top of my building plus I work nights so parking is never going to be a problem. Going shopping will be in my other car or truck. Hoping to go at least a year without a ding on it at least.

Well it's obvious the gentleman does not have a driveway. Does not mean Camaro owners that don't have a garage are lower or made poor choices.

Camaro's have seen a LOT of sun in the past.. and a LOT in the future. This is a common mans car.. not just elite.

Hmmm, I live in a condo so no garage possible. This might be something to look into. Just so I have it straight, this is an infrared camera that you mount near the car. It senses motion when turned on and takes a picture or video which you can pull out and view on your computer? Seems good to me. Only problem I would have is the neighbors walking to their own cars. Possibly could overcome that with careful positioning. I gotta think about this some more but the overall idea is a good one.

Yeah that's cool if you're a hunter and you've got that camera laying around 6+ months outta the year.

If you're really worried about vandalism, then you should go more high-tech.

Infrared, yes... high definition... motion detected... connected to a security dedicated computer with plenty of hard drive space that auto-deletes every couple weeks.

I was planning on getting two of these just for the school parking lot and keying cars, I could rig something that will have one facing the front, the other the back in the interior which could be strung between the two seat headrests. Id regret not doing it if something ever happened to my car when I wasnt there.

Yea I live in a townhouse so I have 'on street' parking. My last car a 01 Saturn SC2 was kinda a high profile looking car. Bright yellow, black flames, yellow and black leather, nice wheels. It was keyed once at work, broken into once in front of my house and one morning I got up and happened to look out my window and 3 kids were messing around near the rear of my car. I turned on the front light and they ran away. I had a 2 way paging remote alarm installed on that right away. My wife's solara and 3 other cars were egged one night. stupid prick little kids....
