Another Road Trip - #296 to South Carolina

Ok, my friends in PWII said a trip thread would be of some value, so as we did on our trip to California in Number 3 at Christmas and when we took Thor to Florida over Easter, I'll post up our Camaro fun right here.

What I expect..........a super comfortable drive down. 24 plus MPG. Pure Camaro awesomeness.

What I'm curious about...........will #296 still have Rock Star status. When we took Numbe 3 to California, there were maybe 10 Camaros on the road. When we had Thor in Florida, they weren't quite at the dealers yet. Now, over 20,000 delivered. But judging by the guy at the gas station at lunch, I'm guessing the Red CTF Camaro will still pull a good crowd.

We will take tons of pictures and if I can figure a few technical things out on the laptop, will actually post them along the way. If not, you'll see even more photos of #296, the most photographed Camaro to date..............maybe. At least in the Captured Test Fleet.

So on the road in a few hours.

Back later.

You will love Hilton Head Island at this time of the year, but make sure and visit Savannah on the other side of the river this weekend and maybe get a bite at paula dean's restaurant .

PS...I wish you guy's a safe trip and could you drop off some frozen custard or concrete treat since you're coming our way. J/K

BeSt drive out of Michigan in many years. Lots of lookers. Saw 3 other Camaros so far none in Ohio. Looks like we are just ahead of some major rain as we head East toward Cleveland.

Ok Number 3..........as the owner of the Real #296, you have to tell me when you will be coming through NC so we can get these two cars together.

Have a safe trip..........watch out for our Z06 patrol on Hwy 40 too.........

Hey!

I think you need to take a 'detour' thru Bakerstown, PA next Saturday (15th)-- for the Tom Henry Chevy and PACE (Pittsburgh Area Camaro Enthusiasts) Cruise to Mars ...... only off of the PA turnpike by about 5 minutes --

(call me on my cell and I'll give you more details...) (...and you can take a picture of #296 in front of the Space Ship in the town square.....)

By the way -- "Thor" wants to come visit "Uncle #3 and Aunt #3" one more time this summer...... he's on his way back from the Desert and will get here in time to make the T.H.C./PACE show....

I have no doubt that you will still have rockstar status.

There are a few 5th gens around here and we still get TONS of thumbs-up and we have even had several of these

I absolutely LOVE this freakin car. My Wife goes into the garage and tells it goodnight. LOL

.

Just passing thru Statesville, NC. Saw CGM
going Northbound. Have seen a couple of
people with camera phones & a few truckers who want to talk about the car @ gas stops.

So to this point have you been finding more, less, or the same 'rock star status'?

Meet and Greet? (In HHI, SC)

OMFG..been a camaro5 reader for months now..just joined when i saw the destination for your roadtrip. I live 4 miles from HHI in Bluffton. I've only seen 2 camaros around here. One was a red LS (avis rental) and saw a yellow SS going other way on 278 on the way home from work. Pulled a U-turn hoping to catch up and get a closer look but traffic was ridiculous, didnt happen.

Anyways, if you guys have time, a meet and greet would be awesome. Judging by your last post, I'm guessing your near Columbia right now. What time do you guys think you'll be getting into Hilton Head? 2:30-3:00? I've got the day off with nothing planned. I dont care Ill sit by the bridge and wait if I have to.

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Made it. Listening to someone trying to sound like Bob Marley. 950 miles and 14 hours of driving a great car. DIC says 24.9. I trust that as it has been pretty close.

Rock star status is clearly less, but still a few cameras and waves and thumbs up. Both gas stops had admirers walk up for a look and a chat. It still gets plenty of attention.

Have to think about going to Mars. Sounds like fun, especially the space ship part.

Could a meet later this week. Heading up to meet Spike tomorrow in Charleston.

Could not have asked for a better drive down. No traffic jambs or construction and even the many highway patrolman and women left us be cuz I can't imagine a VR Camaro going unnoticed.
