Deposits are already being made on this car, because people are INSISTING to be at the front of the line for this one.... Maybe not the demand of the coupe, but lots of demand for sure! I would expect that since it will be made on the same line as the coupes (at least for now), there will be an allocation of those as well......it also may put a damper on coupe production with a high demand.....so hopefully we have lot inventory built up by then!

I honestly don't like the vert, I feel it takes away from the lines of the coupe...I would LOVE a T TOP THOUGH! Call me an old school 20 something camaro lover LOL

I think GM would have done better to bring out the convertible sometime next year to keep the excitement alive on this car but they did just come out of bankruptcy so that may have been a bit much to ask. I'm glad it's coming out but that's a long time- almost 2 years from now.

That'll be the day that I leave ANY dealer a deposit for a car, 2+ years in advance.

With all these dealerships closing down, that has to be the dumbest thing anyone could do. Nobody even knows which options this car is going to come with.

Who knows what can happen between now and then.

My wife works in Oshawa and frequently drives by and around the GM plant area in the south end. Tonight she asked me if GM made a convertible Camaro... I said not until next years model, but that they've confirmed it.
She saw a black one driving around today with the top down and did a double take.

I hope I get the chance to see it myself sometime when I'm driving through Oshawa.

(This is presuming of course that there hasn't been another custom job done up here - she did say it didn't have any of the protection stickers etc... but for a test model I assume they wouldn't bother?)

With the way things are going for Government Motors, I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatched.

That being said, i am extatic at the news of future Convertible Camaro production. I like mine and was never a real convertible person, but always liked a rag top 69 (TA too). With the current style i dunno which would look better a rag top or hard top (look)... I'd have to see them both.

My neighbor had been holding out for the convertible. Yesterday 6-7 she got a RJT 2SS/RS with every option ground package, stripes, rims upgraded to a chrome and black rim, very sharp car. A big reason she got one now after waiting over a year was the salesman told her the convertible was pushed back to the 4th qtr 2011 if it is even made that the company who makes the convertible went bank rupt and they may not even produce one. Does this sound up and up or did the salesman/dealer lie to get a sale?? Any one else herd this?? I did a search here but couldn't find it so sorry if this has already been discussed.

It was said that they re-tooled the factory during the Christmas holiday shut down for the Convertible. Then there has been spy shots of the Convt in Detroit. I also know someone that has money down on a Convt.

I don't know for sure but my guess is that the salesman may not have specifically lied but sounds like he really didn't have a clue. He is probably going off some rumor someone might have said about the convt back at the end of last year. I doubt very seriously he confirmed his facts before making the statments. She probably got bluffed into buying one.

She is probably happy for now but once she starts seeing the convt on the streets she might be taking a hit on a trade in.
