Has Anyone Gotten the Call From GM?

Has anyone gotten the phone call from GM to alert them that the output shaft in their six speed Camaro might be affected by Tremec's QC issue?
I've read about the reported failures, but have not heard of anyone being contacted by GM before a failure occurred.

How can this be? Is it possible that GM didn't call anyone?

You posted originally at 2pm and you got 3 responses, I don't think it's acceptable to even hint that your assuming GM hasn't/isn't calling anyone. For all we know if could of been 100 shafts maybe even 1000, that's only a few cars. Maybe it was more maybe less, GM said they would handle it and they will. The ones that have broken have gotten a replacment within 24 to 48 hours that's pretty good service.

Well, the original post in this thread wasn't the first to ask this question, so I believe it is a bit "unusual" that no one has reported any calls to date on here. I also think that a couple of shafts have been reported after the GM announcement. There is a lot of people on this forum; I would feel better if I heard that someone received a call.

I agree that GM has done an excellent job in addressing this issue quickly and completely. But I would personally like to know more about what exactly was the reason for the failures. From GM. I don't feel "entitled" to know, I would just feel better about the issue if we heard the root cause.

Perhaps they were asked by GM not to share their calls publicly. If i got on here and said my car with vin 20015 has a bad output shaft then everyone around my VIN would panic and everyone would post and it would be a mess. Please note That is not my VIN and I am just making an example., just expressing my opinion.

I posted on the 12th and again on the 16th. Check the dates.

I know that I would feel better knowing that GM was contacting affected Camaro owners as agreed, and if I was not contacted I could then assume that my car is not one of the affected vehicles. Even if the group of cars affected is as small as we suspect, I think we would still hear about some of the calls on this forum.

My car got built and released right around when this was announced. It was held up for about a week or so, I am not sweating it. We get a 5 year 100,000 mile warrantee on the drivetrain, just enjoy it, if it breaks you lose the car for a couple of days.........no big deal.

And this forum is a small cross-section of owners compared to all the people that already placed orders.

There is not one single dealer with a decent service department in Florida? What about the one in the Orlando area. I stopped there once a while back. That big beautiful dealship has no good mechanics??

So what are you going to do with other warrantee repairs? Man, I would not buy a car if I could not find a dealer with a decent service department.......scary.

I posted similar thread last week asking same question as Rick. It would give me peace of mind if I heard that there were at least a few people that were contacted by GM about this problem.

Btw - Reason for my concern is that one of our Camaro5 members had his output shaft snap that was 60 vin #'s away from mine (mid June production date). So yeah, I'm a bit concerned... and haven't tried out the launch control because of it.

Chances are you wont get a call. There is a TSB that has been issued. They will be replacing on a "as needed" basis to keep from replacing ones that are not affected.
In other words, dont worry about it. Drive the car like you would normally and enjoy it. If it breaks, they will fix it.

Towed mine in Monday two weeks ago. On Friday they said car ready but there is a problem. After repaired, GM called and said put it up on the rack and check the transmission serial number. It was out of the bad batch.

I told them let me drive it. I will baby it until you get another transmisson. It took about three comp launches, three launches with traction control on and three with traction control off betwee 2500 and 3500 rpm to break the original. Broke in comp mode on rev limiter. (BAD IDEA!)

Took it back in this Monday and picked it up Tuesday. GM knows which ones are bad. Vin #13782

Florida covers a lot of miles and I live on the Alabama/Florida line. There 5 dealers within 150 miles and I have had unsatisfactory dealings with all of their service departments. Yes I could go to Orlando or Miami but this would be costly if hauling a broken car that far, staying in a hotel and feeding myself while waiting on my car.. I would just like to know if I have a bad transmission that will break under hard load so I can drive it to a distant service center for some preventative maintaince. Not all of us are rich!

Does anyone know what trans SN's are affected? My vehicle VIN is 60 away from another Camaro5 member that had his tranny output shaft break. I jotted down my tranny SN when I had it up on lift for oil change.

gotta keep in mind that there have been 20...30K + cars sold and delivered. there's only some 15k members on here, and not even half of them have their cars, and I dont even know what percentage ordered the SS M6, so its not too unreasonable that there might not be anyone posting up that they got the call. we do have a lot of new members joining after they break their trans tho.
