Lightbulb You ask how long from 2000 to 3800? Well heres an answer... (kind of)

I wanted to get an idea of how long it would take to transition from one event code to the next... So with a couple of hours (dont ask I was stuck and that board) I managed to find 1186 unique order codes up to 8/4 on a thread Vis started for tracking orders from 1100 through 3800. There were 795 transitions from one order code to another. Ie 1100-2000 or 2000-3800 or 2000-2500 etc But only 659 were interesting transitions. Ie transitions above 2000.

What did I find... See the two tables below

NOTE: There were only two available recorded transitions from 2000-3800. So that data does not representative anything meaningful. 30 records is about where a stats guy would start to pay attention.

I had to make a few ASSumptions that make the results a bit fishy but... it is the best data I have access to... I am not reporting transitions from 1100 to any other code. Since that is really a dealer allocation thing and you could be at 1100 for a long time if your dealer does not have an allocation.

Closing thoughts:
1) Hope this helps answer the question "How long till I get my car..."
2) Lies Damn Lies and Camaro order statistics...
3) NMGQBV = 1100 = MY 2SS =

GREAT JOB. I will post my stats once as I move through the process, I ordered on Apr 11 and just today finally got my order code from GM Customer Care, the dealer never did get it to me.

Today I found I was at 3000 with a TPW of 9/7/09, so if I interpret that right I am looking at at least 26 days from 3000 to 3800 (which I have no idea when I got to 3000) so my clock starts today.

That would put me somewhere in the middle between your calc'ed average and max, as long as my TPW does not change.

Thanks for all that effort I was just wading through the status messages and trying to roughly guess the time, but your chart is far easier. You must have put some serious time in that given your sample sizes, again great job and thanks.

What a great tool to help us all! I'm assuming the data are based on calandar days, vs working/production days (which would be Mon-Sat, provided they're still manufacturing on Saturdays?)

Yes I used the =days360() function. So Sun=Sat=7days

So if I am sitting at 2051 does that mean that my dealer had allocation for mine and it's getting built?

Dealer allocation days

Does anyone know is there a certain day or days that GM picks up orders for allocations?

I have been waiting for a week and my order has not been picked up yet.

My dealer has an available allocation, why would it have not been picked up by GM yet?

Just wondering is there amethod to the madness!

Thanks for your input.

How do you know your dealer has an allocation and if so where you sit on their list. Many people were lucky and got an honest dealer, but many were not and the dealers said they had an allocation when they did not. There is no recourse for the dealer lying, or half-lying, they have an allocation but have already sold out that allocation. I know from personal experience about a dealer lying about the allocation, mine had one, but had already sold all the slots, so technically they did have an allocation, just not as it applied to my purchase.

As I sadly found out after enough time here, if your dealer really has and allocation you should get an order code before you leave the dealership, and move from 1000 to a higher status within a day or so. If you don't you need to question you dealer.

I finally got mine, but it was after a LOT of raising hell.

Well I guess I can only sit and wait, you're correct he could just be lying to me. He said he had an allocation but if he did it would have been picked up by now.

I was wondering if there is a set day of the week when GM picks up allocations from the dealer. But if you are correct than it is just a matter of the dealer putting the order in, if they have an allocation they put in the order. If they don't you have to sit and wait in line.

It seemed like such a good idea to order a car but I'm not sure it's worth all the anxiety. Oh well in the long run it's just a car and hopefully worth the wait.

I'm pretty much on the same boat. I ordered mine on 15 Jul and the dealer told me he had my allocation. It's been a month now and i'm still sitting at 1100. I'm starting to question if the allocation was available for me at all. If I don't move by Friday, i'll probably go in and take my deposit and go somewhere else.

That's ok, though. I know where he works...

I'm confused my dealership and another dealership that has sold about 50 2010 Camaros keep telling me there is not such allocations. But then I ordered my 2LT Aqua with Beige leather on 6-10-09 and still at 1100 according to The Viz. So what is a person to do. The larger dealership advertising in the Paper that they can order and receive in 6 weeks. But they want to mark the vehicle up 7,000 dollars above MSRP.
