Premium!?

hi, this is me again with a random question, while pumping gas today at bp, i saw a "save-a-lot" gas station with premium gasoline 10 cents cheaper then what bp was selling for (i wasnt pumping that particular one but thats besides the question), so i pumped and pondered, and honestly the first thing that came to my head was "imma post it on camaro5" so getting to the point i wonder, whatever gas the camaro or any car uses, i've been loyal to bp because i think its a better gasoline, there in lies my dilemma...i think its a better gas, so i'd like to read a few opinions from you guys, all theese gas stations, bp.luke,shell...they vary in prices so it makes me wonder if im getting better or poorer gasoline, i've been driving for a while now...not really about 7 years but i never thought of that until now...is the gas at bp or any gas station better than say "save-a-lot" or "gas-a-roo" or anyother competitor? or is this all in my head and i've been buying more expensive gasoline for nothing?

well the cheaper gas isn't bad as long as you use the BP and Shell once in a while because stations like grocery store ones don't add an additive to there gas which stops sludge build up and stations like BP and Shell do add it and that will clean you engine out, so you can use the cheap stuff but every couple fill ups use the BP like stations to clean you engine out

I use arco because it's the cheapest out there. If there's a mom & pop gas station here and there I'll use it if it's more than 10 cents cheaper. That happens once in a blue moon though. Shell is some 40 cents a gallon more expensive than the second highest station around here (Chevron).

Arco is about 15 cents cheaper than Chevron on Average. 76 is about on par with Chevron.

I've heard lots of stuff about Shell, so I won't buy from them. But, that's a different story alltogether and off topic.

As far as the difference between qualities of gasoline from a mom and pop store vs Chevron, I've heard there is a difference. Similar to what Mindz was saying. However, I could not tell you any facts relating to this. But, I have been told of mom and pop stores that falsify their pumped gallon measurements so the gallon you think you got, was actually 13/14th's of a gallon....all for .10 cents cheaper...making it look like you got the better deal.

diifferent gas stations will have slightly different gas, but the actual stuff you are gettin is not going to be drastically better than any others. im sure if you wanted to do the research, some pump stations use older model tanks that allow water to get into the fuel supply.

like tag said, i wont use Shell either. as far as the OP comment about how one station is offering Premium for 10 cents less than BP, thats just economics. everyone wants to buy the cheap crap. by that i mean 87 or 89 octane gas. there by causing the gas stations to have to buy more of it and run the price up more. i get premium cheaper than regular a lot of times cus no one wants to buy it at the higher price so they sell out of the lower quality gas, then they have no choice but to lower the price for premium

All gas is the same, it comes from the same pipe, The difference in brands is additives.

Even mom and pops shops get their gas from a major distributer, and that distributer is the one that adds the additives depending on the brand.

Uphill/downhill?
Headwind/not?
Those could be major factors....

I only asked, because I've used E10, and full-gasoline before...and the biggest fuel economy difference has been 1-2mpg...I didn't think there could be that big of a disparity between fuels as you experienced. Wow.

The only thing I could think of is headwind otw back. Maybe a heavier load? Either that (and no, no, no disrespect) but calculations might be a bit off?

like Mindz I only use Arco. Up here Arco's 92 goes for BP's 87. Shell, Chevron, BP, etc wont see a dime of my money unless its an emergency!

buy it where its cheaper. if you are worried about the additives and what not, you can go buy a $3 bottle of fuel injector cleaner and pour it in every 5-10 refills. the additives arent going to be that big of a difference, esp since today bp is 10cents more, and next week they might be 10 cents lower.
