thinking of selling am I crazy?

I have a 2002 zo6 bone stock with 19k. I now have a two year old son, hence I use my car less and less. I thought if I had a new camaro with at least a place to put him and the wife at the same time I could use it more. I have previously owned nothing but camaro's including a 69ss I sold to buy my first vette the zo6 I own now. I also know this is a bad time to be selling a vette or any car for that matter. I love the zo6 it is awesome , very scared of regreting a bad decision. Would love some input, thanks.

I don't think it's going to be too much fun putting anyone in the back seat, even a car seat for that matter.

Congratulations on being a father first, car enthusiast second. Fatherhood is the most rewarding and challenging thing you will EVER do in your lifetime.

Go with the Camaro and sell the Z06. Best decision you could make given what you've shared about your circumstances.

Your 2002 will be a classic very soon. The 2010 Camaro will not. Don't trade in the vette after you may (or already) have it paid off. Just go by a new car flat out and keep the vette.

I had an 04 z06 and that car was a beast and handled awesome. Go and drive the camaro first before you sell the vette because you may not like the way it performs, plus it sits completely different than the vette. The visibility isn't the same either.. There are a lot of different things between those 2 cars so be careful in your decision process.

The Z06 has no back seat...therefore you can barely use it..

Even though its a fast car, you need moar room.

If it were a C6 Z06 it would be a no brainer...but...I would struggle with the C5/Camaro as well...

ARE U CRAZY????? .. do not sell what-so-ever... the ZO6 is an amazing car... EXTREMELYYYYYYYYY fast, and looks awesom... i wish i could afford a ZO6 because then I woudl be getting that instead of the new camaro, even tho i love hte camaro...

think about it this way... the backseat of the camaro is more like a shelf... the seat is so tiny... once your kid grow up in a few years, maybe by like 7-8 years old if you still have the car, he wont really be fitting in the back seat... its to tiny... the seat is more for show....

also... im going out on a limb here making an assumption... but i assume you have a job and drive to work... in that case your not driving your wife and son to work, so you could take the zo6... wanna go for a sunday stroll... zo6... you and your wife wanna get a baby sitter and go out on a weekend night, would you rather show up and drive a zo6 or a camaro.... no offence to the camaro, i love it and all but id rather show up in a zo6...

if i were you... and this is just my opinion... based on teh fact that you have a zo6 which isnt a cheap car, im again assuming that your not poor... so if i were you i would go buy/finance/ or lease if need be... an average economy 4 door car... something cheap like a toyota corolla, nissan sentra or altima... or if you have a little extra money, a nissan maxima... or maybe a hyundi elantra.... and that would be something you only drive when you MUST drive your wife and son together...

make your own choice, but i would DEFINATLY not sell the ZO6, i love that car and think it looks awesom

Great decesion, if it is about your family nothing can mean more. Another z06 will come along in your life but the time you spend with your kid won't. The Camaro is a great car and it is never a bad time to sell a well maintained car. 19k is amazing on your car you should get more than your value on it. Just make sure the dealer you are buying from doesn't know right off bat that you want to trade if not he might mark up the Camaro and try to get less value out of your current ride. Shop hard for MSRP, just to let you know Tom Henry has 8 allocations left according to our infamous TAGURIT has announced and are selling at MSRP. Tom will most likely be more than happy to give you top dollar on your trade cuz he has capability to move a vehicle like that out of his inventory fast. The backseat in that Camaro will be very handy for you it seems, and you get the power you want. I know it may not be a Vette but it holds its own in the sports car world.

Based on what you’ve said, I would recommend you hold on your Z06. It has already been pointed out that you will easily out grow the Camaro in a few years and find yourself facing the same decision all over again. A few other things to consider. How many other cars do you and your wife own? Can you afford both a Z06 and family? The reason I ask is that a lot of “Car Guys” , including myself, have to put their hobby on hold until the family is grown. Is the Z06 your first “Dream Car”? Besides driving it less and less, which isn’t a bad thing, is there anything else you don’t like about the Corvette?

Good Luck!

Sell the Vette, get the Camaro. You're in for a ride (family wise). When the responsibilities start to build and a few bills, as well as activities, etc. that all 3 of you need to go to, the Vette will get even less use and become FAR more of a luxury item. At least with the Camaro you'll have something you enjoy like the Vette AND be able to take the 3 of you, as you've already pointed out.
Don't mean to be too crass, but time to man-up, your a dad now ! ... and it's great. The car (the Vette) will pale next to being a father.

CONGRATULATIONS on being a dad !
