My dealer just told me my car won't be in till AFTER February...cancel or wait?
I tried to order this car in October, but couldn't find a dealer to sell for MSRP in Northern California. In May, a guy at my job drove up in one and he told me had gotten it for MSRP at a dealer near Sacramento. So, I got in touch with this dealer and they said they'd order for sticker, but I wouldn't likely get it till December. By the time I ordered 2 weeks later, they said they had gotten a new allocation and hopefully it would come in much sooner than they thought. I gave them my 1000 deposit and ordered the car on 6-18. It's been 8 weeks and I'm still at 1100, so I sent an email today and asked why I see so many guys ordering in July on Camaro5 who already have TPWs and they replied that I probably won't get the car till after Jan/Feb, and offered my deposit back, saying I should probably order elsewhere and if it came in early, I'd still get the MSRP deal. No reason why. Should I cancel and try again, knowing I still may not have it before Feb, or just wait it out? I know if they send back my check, I won't get a car from them, but I have no idea where else I can order now that I could get MSRP.
Anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking about asking CamaroScotty, but he's probably tired of bailing out dealers who don't keep their end of the bargain, and I'm not sure how the dealers here would take a drop ship without killing me on "fees". Plus, I don't know if he even has any more allocation. Sighhhh ....

Cancel. Either get one elsewhere that has one on the lot, order one from a place that can "get" it, or wait for the 2011 model.

HOLY CRAP, AFTER FEBRUARY?!?!
I didn't even have to read your entire post to know the answer to this one. Even a guy who's never bought a new car before (myself) can figure this one out: CANCEL! There's stories of people on here who have only waited 3 months to get theirs. There's other salesmen/dealers out there (some on this site) who can get you what you need, in a timely manner.

Find another dealer. This is exactly what I did. Plenty of dealers with open allocations.

Tom Henry, Tag had made a post the other day they have 8 left and are selling at MSRP. They are the one of the biggest dealer in the US.

Not Sullivan
No, it was Family in Shingle Springs. I saw enough about Sullivan that I never even tried them. They were on my list though, till all the BS started. I talked to about 10 or 12 dealers throughout CA, even in SoCal, and got a constant runaround. Family said they'd still sell me the car if it comes in early and I have ordered elsewhere, but I'm sure if they send my deposit back, and the car comes in, I won't get it for MSRP, which means I won't get it.

Well i guess it depends on how bad you want the car. Plus when you order a car with what you want on it vs buying one off the lot you can get it cheaper by cutting the stuff you want. Unless you can afford one loaded like alot on the lots are. Me and my wife were 36 on the waiting list here in Louisiana back in June. We are now ordering end of next week or early the following week. There cars have been coming in usually 6 or at the latest 8 weeks. Weve been going by checking as they come in. Whats weird though is we are in a smaller town than you. They should be able to get your car to you quicker than our dealer would to us. Are you sure they havent had your car come in and sold it?

my order number is still at 1100 as of yesterday, same as it's been since 6-18. the dealer gave me no reason for the delay in his reply to my email. I don't intend to buy one off of the lot unless it's EXACTLY what I want, and I won't pay over MSRP, so ordering is my only likely way. Unfortunately, there are very few dealers in CA that I can find that will sell for MSRP at this time, so I will likely have to wait till spring anyway for the pricing pressure to ease. Consequently, I'm not sure whether I should try out of state or just wait till it comes in, or cancel it and wait till spring anyway.

Try Mark Christopher Chevrolet in Ontario, California. They are right next to Ontario International Airport (ONT) so it would be easy to fly down and pick it up. They'd probably pick you up at the airport.
Call 909-390-6962 and ask for A.J. They sell at MSRP. I ordered mine May 19 and I'll be picking it up either tomorrow or Tuesday. Karl who's in charge of ordering is good about keeping you updated on the status of your order too.
