SLP Loud Mouth II Issue

I installed the SLP Loud Mouth II this weekend on my 2SS A6. I know that there was some droning when cruising on the freeway that others had mentioned. I get a fairly loud very deep bassy noise and slight vibration when I hit cruising speed weather at fast or slow speeds. It's fine when accelerating. I re-checked the exhaust today and found no leaks and all the muffler mounts are good. The only thing I can think of is that when I reach cruising speed it shifts to 4 cylinders weather I'm on the street or freeway. I don't know the details on when and why the AFM kicks in? If this continues I'll have to put the stock mufflers back on. :(

You can tune your ECM to change when the AFM kicks on. I'm very sure there are Camaro tuners in AZ that can help you.

Did you remove the big baffle or just the mufflers?

Unfortunately, this is not going to go away unless you retune to delete the Active Fuel Management. I figured this would be a problem with the auto and aftermarket exhausts when switching to V4 mode. Tuning the car could (depending on your dealer) void your warranty. That's why I went with electronic exhaust diverters. I can use the stock exhaust on the highway and have it scream on the street.

So I guess it all depends on if you're comfortable deleting the AFM.

It's an axle back system.

Thanks for the info! Would it be safe to assume that all axle back systems for the A6 would have the same issue? Now to figure out which direction to take.....................................

I have the LS3 (no Active Fuel Management) and it does the same thing (at about 1800 RPM). Don't go tuning out the AFM because it won't help. I don't really even notice it anymore, but I'm hoping that headers and/or gear in the future will completely get rid of the drone.

Hey Missile Man,

My car should be in Tucson Tues or Weds, I already received my SLP LM 1. I plan on installing this weekend, I will let you know how it sounds.

Man, this makes no sense. They sound great during acceleration. Then at cruze they sound like a rice rocket with a 55 gallon drum for a muffler with a 4 inch exhaust pipe............................. well maybe not that bad.
