First detail with my new Black Camaro

Well she finally got here Thurs. Told the dealership no wash and no sticker....what do they do....exact opposite, so had alot of minor scratches and 2 major scratches already. Ordered my Zaino kit but hasn't arrived yet so I used all my Mequiars Sat and Sunday. I couldn't wait!

Dawn wash, Clay bar(I like the Meq. white clay....can see any little bit of dirt), wash, then Meg. Ultimate Compound with polisher....yes I hit it with the polisher already. Meq. gold wax to finish and full detail inside with ArmourAll and Scotchguard, then engine and trunk. I had about 9-10 hours in her total, most was very carefully polishing scratches.

I am very happy with the Mequiars, it gave it a very warm glow, but it does smear easy when touched. I will do the Zaino in a month or 2.

Had the Stripes put on today, so here are some pictures.

Sorry it was getting dark and I haven't had a chance to get good pics yet.

THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTED INFO. ON THIS SITE! ESPECIALLY MOOSE!!

I learned lots of good tricks.

Looks good, but you didnt need to use ultimate compound. Just taking layers off ur clear coat for nothing. You should of just used swirl x on the car and maybe just scratch x 2.0 on the deeper scratches.

i been to meguiars for there 101 class and there advance class and thats wat i learned. Use the lest abrasive one needed to do the job.

I only used the compound on the bad scratches, then a pass with the swirlX. I did the SwirlX on some spider webbing also. I couldn't believe the amount of scratches once I put a good light to it. Believe me, I didn't want to be polishing all day!!

looks great but from my experiene ultimate compound might have been overkill it has a pretty high cut for such a new finish i went with # 7 2c oats and found great results, scratch x also works great to not a harsh a cut as UC

Yeah the UC might have been a little too much, but the scratches just weren't coming out. I tried it first in a small area and it looked really good and it did a great job with the big scratches.

I just wanted the black to be perfect before I put the wax on. If not I would be cleaning it everyday which would have eventually scratched it anyway. I knew going in black would be tough!!

Get a porter cable and cut down your detailing time in half.

Also, try turtle wax black box. Its great.
