Only your dealer has access to it's allocation, if they are worthy of your purchase they should be honest with you if you ask them.

If your sales rep won't tell you then call and ask to talk to the sales manger on duty. They can normally tell you. That's what I did. Didn't like the answer, but I guess I can spend more time saving up money when my car does come in...

well I have a quick question relating to allocations as well...when I first went to my dealer, they told me they had allocations spots available, so I place my order on 7/26. I noticed that it didn't get picked up on the next 2 Fridays, so I emailed my salesman to see where I was in the allocation line-up. Here his response:

Chris,

I just got back, and thanks for being patient. There are 4 cars ahead of yours as of this morning.

Our consensus is giving us 4 allocations over the next three weeks. Our zone manager has promised us 3 additional allocations in return for buying the Cadillac inventory from Robert Woodall. The most accurate answer I can give you is it will be pulled over the next 3-4 weeks.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Thank you.

Curt Cope

So am I interpreting this right in that they have no spots currently so I have to hope they get at least 5 or my order hangs out there forever?

I though I did the right thing by asking if an allocation spot was available but maybe I'm screwed. I'd really like to have the car by November.

They know the total number they will get for a particular month at a time. I paid for my car last Wednesday because it's on it's way my salesman told me they had 26 allocations for all of august.

You can post multiple questions in a single thread, too. You've got 4-5 all next to each other, would make it easier to keep track.

Not to mention two of his posts were nearly exactly the same, glad someone else is paying attention. I got tired of fighting the good fight alone.

Dealers will tell you that they can put it in right away. They want your business. But it does not take 3 months to get it. That means he has orders in front of yours. I live in the furthest place in the Continental U.S. and its taking us 5-8 weeks from time we put allocation in.

I say tell him, if he can give you an order sheet, with an order number, signed by the manager on the spot, then you will give him a check.... don't fall in the trap I fell into with my dealer, so far it's been a nightmare.... he told me Tues that my car was in transit, but according to the order number he gave me and the info I go from VIZ, the car has a TPW of 8/24 and is still not built yet.... oh this is the second order number, the first order number he gave me was for another car... it's been about 63 days since I put my depoist down, but the one brigh spot, If I don't have a car in 75 days, I can get my deposit back.... to be honest I know they don't want to sell it to me at MSRP one of the salesmen told me, but my agreed upon price with a former salesman who took my order was for MSRP.... So now I'm at the point second order number, 63 days, no car, and guess we will see... once i hit 75 days, I will start looking for another dealer.... good luck

I have never heard of a "non-refundable" deposit in auto sales. I guess they could try that. My wife is an attorney and she said, "no way...no car delivered, no sale...customer gets deposit back". Unless you ordered a pink Camaro that would difficult for them to sell, they have to give you your money back. Somebody is taking advantage of you.

Do what you want, but as I said in the other thread, my dealer near Buffalo has allocation available THIS WEEK. I spoke with the inventory manager myself. $79 one way ticket on Jet Blue to pick up your car 7-8 weeks from now.

hey guys the dealer I went to told me they have available allocation to order my car. he also showed me how many cars he has been getting alloted each month. when I asked him if he would give me my order number right of way he said give me your deposit we will order the car on thursday. He told me that he can only put orders in on thursdays for some reason, that sounded strange to me. I need some advice people does this sound normal or is he gunna hold my order for 4 months before he puts the order in lol. Also I heard that dealers can put orders in when ever they want even if they dont have allocation. He told me im looking at about 2 to 3 months for the car. Should i have asked him for something more \. should i have not ordered from him , Your opinions are greatly appreciated thanks.

I believe dealers can put in orders any day they want to. It could be that they are just putting them in the system on certain days rather than every day, at least for the camaro. If he has an open allocation then he shouldn't sit on your order at all. He should put it in and it should pick up within a few days. The time frame he gave you is probably a good window, as long as he has an open allocation. The one thing you need to look at is the predicted constraints on the SS's. They are predicting that later this month they are going to reduce the number of SS's going through the production line each week. Do a search and you will find plenty of threads on this. Hopefully this helps. You could also search on here for the dealers name and see if others have posted about that dealer, usually pretty good information related to the dealers on here.

I can't believe it takes you guys so long to still get SS's. You can drive down to the dealers around me, and drive home in a Camaro that same day. Maybe you guys are picky with your options and color choices or something.

The dealer you are refering to in your original post told me it would take 6months or longer to get a car.

6 months? That is f**king crazy. I took this video about an hour ago. Look closely behind the blue one and the black one in the beginning of the video, there are 2 more SS's behind them (a yellow black striped one, and a RJT one) and there was another one behind me.

Some people do buy them off of lots. Others are putting in the orders for the actual cars they want. The ones already sitting on lots are mostly orders by other buyers who either backed out or couldn't qualify when the car came in. The dealer I ordered mine from had 2 x 2SS, 1 x 1SS, & 1 x LS. But I wanted a 2LT/RS. It's a car I've planned to get for a long time. So in the end, I ordered the exact thing I wanted, rather than take someone elses left overs. That's why so many continue to sit on car lots, while people continue to order them and wait the required number of months.

In addition, all the dealers I talked to would not honor any of the special discounts for a car on the lot. For them, it was "MSRP + markup" in the bank to have a car sitting on the lot. For me to get a price with the college discount, it had to be special ordered.

The dealer I took the video at sells at MSRP. I guess that is why they've moved over 150 of them as of 2 weeks ago, and 7 ZR1 Corvettes. I would guess they've probably sold about 175 by now. Their inventory is constantly changing around. In the video you can see about 6 different colors out of 9 or 10 cars.

Funny that people don't want to save money. Their closest competitor, Basil, 15 miles away, is STILL selling at $500 over invoice for Camaro5 members and honoring GMS (employee).
