Nice! What kind of break-in procedure did you follow?

drove the crap out of it. I took it to the track when it had 700 miles on it but changed my oil every 1000 miles for the first couple thousand miles also using penzoil platnum oil and k&n oil filter.

Nice numbers!

Well, I guess that answers my questions about how accurate the dyno was at LMR yesterday. Looks like it was pretty accurate.

Your SS had a 12% drivetrain loss, where my LT/RS M6 had a 22% loss (236.56hp, 227.05lb-ft).

Well not really, but if you remember i had the ECU problem, where they had to replace it for a brand new one. Took 3 weeks to get one because the GM engineers got one off the line, tested it on a camaro, and retuned it. So it was probably the new tune that got me the extra power.

I think i've seen you around town, don't you have an exhaust system? I have yet to hear of any stock ss dyno over 360-365 on LMR's dyno. It is very conservative, I put down 390 whp with LT's, CAI and others are well over 400 with those mods. Good numbers either way, congrats!

Those that push their cars fairly hard right away seem to be coming up with higher dyno numbers than those who follow the factory-recommended break-in procedure. This seems to confirm what the guy in this link says:

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I'm going to follow his procedure to the letter soon as I get my car. It will be interesting to do that and dyno it afterwards to see what my numbers are. If he's correct and the evidence sure leans that way, I'll be above the average of 357 rwhp that those who follow the factory break-in seem to be getting. He says his method should give a 2-10% increase above the results the factory break-in schedule produces. That would mean I should get anywhere from 364-392 rwhp when I dyno my car. I'll find out soon enough; if there aren't any delays my car should arrive sometime next week.

lol....I'm glad it's worked out for me too! I saw Stainless ragging on my car and about died... Then, we took it out on a 2,000 mile drive. Yeah...there was some flooring and all. But, I would put MONEY on it that the LS3 is getting better as it breaks in.

I guess if you think about it this theory could be possible. I mean in our drag cars that we have we build an engine its installed on the bench, we warm it up to operating temperature and make full power dyno pulls with them until we get them tuned for there peak performance. Then the motor is installed and run hard every pass down the quarter mile. Not to mention Nascar does the same thing essentially. There is no so called break in time. And performance is great.

So on the street break in you push it hard in 2nd 3rd and 4th for the first 200 miles and then change the oil. Is that what he's saying or is there more to it. Talking about the oil. Does the camaro come with synthetic? And if so he is saying you need to change it before the break in? Any help would be appreciated!
