2010 Camaro LS-3 On Engine Dyno @ Texas Speed

As most of you guys know we spend tons of R&D time on LS engines. The LS3 is no different! We currently have a brand new LS3 Long Block on the engine dyno for camshaft development & cylinder head development! The advantage to using the engine dyno for testing is we can test individual camshafts next each other in search for the best possible power for certain rpm ranges.

Here's a quick pic of the LS3 waiting on it's first camshaft swap!

We will begin testing different camshafts later today! Look for tons of results coming in the next few days!!

Here's the Basline dyno #'s from the LS3 & the LS3 vs the LS1!!

I *know* I shouldn't treat this as a simple "1+1=2" equation but...the temptation is too much I'm going to play devil's advocate here If the LS3 is putting ~486hp at the crank, and GM is under-rating the Camaro to 426.... hot damn that means the people that are showing 350-380rwhp are seeing a 28 to 21% reduction through the transmission instead of the 15-18% generally agreed one?

My man you should look at the picture and see that they run open headers( without cats or any rest of exhaust system) and that they run open throttlebody (no filter, air box anything; just intake manifold) thats a bit less restriction than the average camaro ss, try running open headers on the street!

Now you texas speed your job look terrific, i want as much pics/news on all you do to ls3 and the n/a kit youll produce!

Keep in mind with no accessories on the front of the motor it makes about 10-12 more hp!!

Exactly. SAE HP numbers are now calculated with all accessories attached as it is in the vehicle. OE's can't use "raw flywheel" numbers anymore.

Those are nice looking headers! A really clean design. I take it that's your prototype for the Camaro?

Where were the power steering pumps & AC connections hooked up to?

For testing purposes I pulled the belt off of my 2010 camaro on the chassis dyno & it made just over 10hp difference.

The purpose of the engine dyno is to compare components side by side with no other changes. This allows us to have a better picture of exactly what the engine wants for each duration point we're working from. The result is camshafts that are proven performers.

I did see the picture, but my mind flooded with a river of questions on what were the parameters they (GM) used to reach the final 426. I knew 1+1 for this question wasn't 2!!!! Thanks for clearing that up and for the info! That's good to know
