Military Discounts

I did a search and didn't see a thread devoted to this. It seems we have quite a few military and ex-military Camaro-ists on this board. Has anybody tried using the military discount, and did the dealer honor it? How much was your discount for?

I ordered my car from Afghanistan. I didnít even know they had such a thing as a military discount until my dealer applied it. My dealer is in Sanford NC and they have been fantastic! My MSRP was $35,425.00 itís a 2SS with RS package and some other option that I donít recall. With the Mil discount of $1,064.00 it came to $34,360.00. Now on top of that I get another $750.00 off from the credit union as well. Yep $1,814.00 right off the top. So yes make sure you inform your dealer if you are military. Itís a discount from GM not the dealers, donít let the dealer say they cant honor it because that is

sadly its up to the dealers whether or not to honor the discount:( and most don't... they prefer their pay check to our freedom(no offense to the dealers on here, just the ones who will look a soldier in the face and say "no, i need to make more money off you."

BLUF: Don't count on it.

I'm in a military town and at this point in time I don't get a discount. We'll see when the car gets here... but I highly doubt I'll it. Even if I complained the dealer would just say "tough noogies" and he'd sell it the next day at MSRP. These things are flying off the floor. I'd say six-eight months from now you might get it, but unless they tell you up front when you order it... you'll be SOL when it coes time to finance.

well, you can always rely on the USAA discount, at least.

I asked too (my husband was KIA in 2004) and he told me at this time because it was so new, they don't offer it! He said we'll check it again when the car comes, maybe things might change! But I don't expect anything at this point!

Thank you all! Come home safe! God Bless America!

MakGrl....GM has given ALL discounts...employee, supplier, military etc for the Camaro from day one. It is up to the dealers if they will honor any or all of the discounts but the discounts are there for you. All you have to do is take the time to find a dealer that will honor your discount. Just something to think about...the military discount is about $1,000...you can drive or fly to a dealer that will honor your discount and you will still be saving some $$$ over msrp...just a thought. Good Luck!!

* GM Discounts DO apply to the 2010 Camaro *

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To clarify the misconceptions of the GM discounts on the Camaro, I have said that in several dealership training telecasts, The Camaro would be eligible for GM program discounts from day one.

Now, in several forum threads, other dealers are questioning this. So let me add some clarification from John Fitzpatrick, GM Camaro Marketing Manager:

From John Fitzpatrick, Camaro Marketing Manager:

Yes, the Camaro is eligible for GMS, Supplier, GM Dealership and Military Discounts (among others).

Program guidelines are the bible regarding vehicle eligibility. Unless the vehicle is EXCLUDED (which Camaro is not), then it is eligible for the discount program.

Now with that said, the dealer does have the ability to opt out of any program they choose. So the dealer does have final call on whether they will honor or not.

Also on our Camaro Launch page:

* Is the Camaro going to be offered at G.M.S pricing?

Camaro will be eligible for GMS, Supplier, Dealership Employees, and Military Discount among other corporate discount programs.

Directly from the FAQ on GM's Military Discount Site.

https://www.exclusivegmoffer.com/ip-...igibility.html

Dealers are not required to participate in the program. Please see the GM Military Discount Rules and Guidelines for complete details.

All 2010 GM cars, SUVs, crossovers and light-duty trucks are eligible for the GM Military Discount Program except:

Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1

Most 2009 GM cars, SUVs, crossovers and light-duty trucks are eligible for the GM Military Discount Program except:

Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1

Saturn
All vehicles

HUMMER
All vehicles

Saab
All vehicles

Most 2008 GM cars, SUVs, crossovers and light-duty trucks are eligible for the GM Military Discount Program except:

Saturn
All vehicles

HUMMER
All vehicles

Saab
All vehicles

So you can't buy a Saturn, Hummer, Saab, or ZR1 on a Military Discount, but if the dealer accepts it, then you can buy any other GM vehicle.

I also used the site to see what the difference would be for what I plan on ordering. 2LT/RS with the Engine Cover: MSRP - $29,435.00 Military Price: $28,503.00 and this already includes the $795 dealer destination fee.

This is what I have been told by my Sales Manager that I will receive. I am not planning to ask for the GM Discount for it, but hey - if they offer it...

I have a great Dealer here. The one's surrounding Atlanta are on the price gouging thread... I put several of them there. Anyway, they honor the discounts (Mil, Supplier, USAA) but as agreed, cash and full price gets done first. It works for me so I can save more for the down payment!!! Hoping on Christmas Delivery!

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33112

SUPER DEAL for me! there are better one out there IF you qualify! (what I wouldn't give to have a relative working for GM right now!!!)

In a few more months we'll all be selling near invoice anyway. Supply catches up with demand, supply gets less expensive. Yes, I'll try and lead the way!

Nesmith Chevrolet in Hinesville GA gave us MSRP, minus the USAA and their own $250 military discount. Wish we could have gotten the GM Military Discount as well, but we are very pleased with what we did get.

Military and USAA discount are one in the same. All Military and USAA discounts are, is supplier pricing. They don't stack together. As far as how much the discount is, it depends on which model you use. LS models will have alot less than 2SS.

jrboyd, sorry your information is incorrect.

Not all Military are USAA Members (should be...) - and not all dealerships will offer the GM Military Pricing.

And also, some Dealerships will offer their own Military Discount, BUT not offer the GM Military Discount.

All said and done, you could be looking at nothing or the following:

GM Military Discount: $1064
Dealership Military Disocunt: I have seen between $250 and $1000
USAA Member Discount: $750
Various Credit Unions: $750

They are not bundled together becasue of any other variable in this process.

Good Luck,
