Count me in if it is on a Sunday. Planning to take my car to the drag strip on Saturday Sept. 26th. Gates open at 4 pm. If anyone is interested, let me know. If anyone wants to make some passes and has never done it before, contact me and I can give you some pointers as I have made over 2500 runs down the quarter mile. If you do want to race, you will need a helmet that will pass current SNELL certification.

Hey 40, the boys and I will come out and watch...My car is not broken in yet. With Tucson's elevation and heat, I'm guessing a 13.7

Wow- 40 years of racing it sounds like! Way to go.

Found this on thier website.

The tech area is located on the road just inside the gate to the North. Pull into the line and wait until a tech person comes to you. Some obvious things you will need are: seatbelts, safe tires (no cord showing), all lug nuts, radiator coolant overflow catch canister (the factory one is fine), no fluid leaks, battery needs to be tied down, long pants (no shorts allowed), and no tank tops. If your car runs faster than 13.99 you will need an approved helmet. The tech inspector will put your car numbers on your windshield. After tech is completed, take your tech card to the trailer to sign a waiver and get your wristband. You will be allowed 1 crew band so take that person with you.

azburk, thanks. Would like the company. Here is a picture of the car that I raced for 7 years. Bought it new in Feb. of 1970, drove it on the street for a year and turned it into a full on drag race car.

That pic brings back some memories... have many like it from the old Tucson Dragway, my dad used to race there quite a bit in his 69 Roadrunner. It's quite possible you guys ran across each other a time or two.
Unfortunately in the mid 70's he was killed in a motorcycle accident (I was 5) at the still "lame" Old Spanish Trail/22nd 4-way stop. Was a mechanic for years over at Beaudry's.

That's funny, my grandfather used to take me to that old drag strip. I remember one big race weekend, Keith Black (I think) flew a Cessna 172 right off the dragstrip on his way home after attending the Saturday race.

I remember that Camaro too.

Where can you buy a race helmet in town?

Krazy, try Don's Hot Rod Shop. North West corner of Stone & Glenn, or any of the motorcycle shops. You thinking of racing your beast?

What a combination, right!?!? It is what it is --

Anyway, just completed my orders for a set of floor mats and trunk mat from RPI Designs! Ordered the black w/orange trim and embroidered with Camaro SS on them! Very stoked -- one of those little appearance mods!

And then I placed my order with LMP Performance for my Corsa cat-back

Being shipped tomorrow!!!

Next item will be the Vararam intake -- like many others, I am patiently awaiting the release of this product.

Then for the most part -- I am done except for some minor things. Such as personalized plates if I ever get my real tags. And seriously considering some orange "hood spears" ! Have any of you seen the photos of those? Pretty darn sharp IMO. At this rate -- I am in need of planting a money tree!!! Darn!

Oh well -- only live once and I am going to live it up! Any plans of a get together anytime soon? Hope everyone is doing well and being safe!

Not a problem -- as per the site and other threads I have read on here they custom make them when the order is placed which takes about 2-3 days and then the shipping time, which is another 3-4 days. Active Duty -- Navy. 5 July was 20 years for me! E7/Chief Petty Officer and I do recruiting for a career. What I have done for the last 16 1/2 years.

Thx for the info, they look expensive online. Probably wont race but, I always get excited when or IF I get to the track

I bought the RPI Designs floor mats, they look great, I got black with yellow trim. I am getting the Ariad CAI, I should be getting it in a week or two, I will post pics when I get them. I put a Viper Alarm in it a few weeks ago, its nice to know if someone is screwing around with my car from a mile away. I put the stealth turn signal bulbs in the front too, looks good.
