Removing from the firewall - HELP -

Apologies I think i posted this in the wrong forum a minute ago, could a moderator delete if so...

hello all..

im stripping down my firewall to get it ready for paint and ive hit a wall.

If you look at the pic ive attatched – ive drawn a box around what I presume is the brake fluid reservoir etc. How on earth does this thing come off the firewall? I've tried disconnecting the bolt that attaches to the brake pedal but that wouldn’t work. In the end I stopped because I didn’t want to brake anything but I couldn’t work out how to get it all off.

If someone can help it would be much appreciated.

Should be four studs on the firewall side (engine compartment)that you just need to remove the four nuts on them. From the inside on the brake pedal you will need to remove the rod that attaches to brake pedal. Then remove all of the attached brake lines (Master cylinder).. Should come right out / off..

Thanks for the reply. I got the four off the firewall, then spent a good 15 minutes lying upside down in the drivers footwell trying to remove the rod connected to the brake - with no joy. Hard to explain what I was trying to do but I was expecting a nut bolt combo to hold it on but its not.

Yah (been a while) but if I remember correct there is a clip that slides off. Kinda need two hands to get it off. Roger

yer i got the clip off that was on one side, i guess a safety feature? but now there is still the u shape peice of metal hugging the brake with a stell rod through the middle.

VERY poor picture i've done to try and show what i mean attatched.

Cheers for the help guys.
