Basically, if your order is currently in the system as of the day the letter came out (yesterday?), and if your are at or beyond status 2000, don't plan on seeing this addition to your car. Also, he did confirm that the price would increase by $295.00.

I asked if it could be special-ordered or added later...he thinks it would be one hell of an aftermarket add-on because of the wiring and rear bumper mods that would be needed. He was not optimistic.

I'm kind of bummed...would like to have the feature. He said I could cancel my current order and place a new order...I said NO THANKS!

I'll live without it and have my RJT by the end of Sep!
haha, yes, that is the exact situation i am in. how ever, mines CGM im looking for another aftermarket system that i can place in the diffuser or just above it.

Approximation:

The width is about 4 1/2". It's about 1/2" tall. In the center is a cutout (perforation) where the light assembly obiously goes. It's about 1 1/2" wide. All I have handy is a rigid ruler so it's hard to get an exact height. Suffice it to say that it's less than the 1/2". There's a small border at the top and bottom.

Hope this helps. Here's a closeup pic:

Yup you were so right my dealer told me today and mine will have it of course with the extra 295.00 added to the MRSP. ITs all good.

Thanks for all your information on this site.

I imagine there's no $300 MSRP increase on your car as well.

Consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

I am a girl, kinda short 5'3" i think the sensors would have been sweet. There are a lot of blind spots in the car. Don't want to ruin the look with thoese stupid spot mirrors!

That kind of stinks about builds after 31st that were order already won't get the back up sensors. I was really looking forward to them. Good thing I'm electrical engineer in the automotive field, looks like I'll be doing it myself like I was going to do anyways I guess... I just wouldn't have had to grab as many parts from work. :(

I'm impartial to the sensors, I could go with or without them. But since I'm still at 1100, looks like I'll have to live with them. Have to save up an extra $300 though, which is a bit of a bummer deal...that could have gone to an official Camaro car cover lol.

I personally would go without them, but I want the C&C package on my 1LT for other reasons. I figure it'll be useful sometime.

I am curious to see if the back-up sensor can be added to the pre-8/31 built Camaros - both the sensors and where the display shows up DIC, PDIM or elsewhere. So we'll need to wait (as always, we've had plenty of practice) and see...

My Auto Body buddy had told me of aftermarket sensors that could be added - here's one site which provides many options - http://www.backupsensors.net/ - and there are local shops that install these.

So for many of us its an aftermarket GM option or other if we're really interested in these sensors.

For me I'm A-OK with the mirror except for the directly behind blind-spot...

I'm not sure I like these sensors. My hubby has them on his truck and sometimes when we turn the key on the sensors go off and we can't get it to stop. We have to turn the truck off to get it to quit.

People who can drive can have kids, dogs, cats, etc. end up behind the car after it's been entered/started and fully out of view- it's not just for parking. I live in a neighborhood with alot of kids and animals - and the system that was in my Acura prevented a couple of close calls during ownership.

--I haven't had the chance to read thru the entire thread but I'll add my two cents....

We discussed this with our Camaro Disciples because we felt it was important to get the Enthusiast point of view. (It was my belief that more buyers who did not necessarily ever own a Camaro would want this feature....and I wish I'd held off buying Mom Settlemire her Camaro just to get this feature) The disciples felt that it was well worth offering.

In a perfect world, we'd offer every option as a 'free-standing' option.....but it would certainly add substantial cost if we didn't have packages -- further, it makes assembly much more difficult and more mistakes could occur.

We were the last manufacturer, I believe, to 'de-proliferate' -- the Imports have very few choices -- Stripped, Middle, Loaded -- that's it.......

So the decision was not made in a vacuum.....

We worked hard to make the system as concealed as possible. You receive an audible warning -- no lights.

I do agree that it should be a selectable option - for folks who dont feel that they need them and who are concerned about the look of the car.
I dont understand the weight concern since the camaro is already a pretty heavy beast and these things really should not weigh that much
You could probably save more weight by assuring that you go to the bathroom before driving the car ;-)
GM is not listening and paying attention to customers,back-up sensors were planned for the Camaro all along! Look in your manual, they describe how to use them. They didn't get them designed in time for release when the Camaro came out.Samething with the ambient lighting. When 2011 rolls around, all the complaints about the interior will be rectified.
