You won't be able to hide them from your wallet, no matter how well they disguise them.

$370 is way too much for this. It would be overpriced at $37.00!

Meh...when considering multiple sensors and the integration into the car's stereo system, and bumper...ect, etc...I could justify ~$150.00 for a quality sensor setup, maybe a little more...

But I've been in this car more than once now...and it's just going to take some getting used to...but you don't need them in the least, imo.

When the wife and I went to check out the camaro at the dealer, one of the first questions after sitting in one was "any back up sensors?/Camera option?" (Dealer didn't have an answer). I could care less If I have Small sensors color matched on the bumper. better that than have the wife roll over a kids bike, or worse. Wish I had them in my 06 Dodge Ram Mega Cab. would have saved me 2K. My Wife gets the Camaro for her Birthday, I get the grief if she hurts it.....

Thank God for Sensors.....

I know, its such a crime to incorporate innovative features into a vehicle. I mean I cant believe that the thing has an engine, transmission, rubber wheels, a radio, lights, plush seats, and the list goes on. Progress, urpmphfft. Putting all that crap in the vehicle is for sissies, babies, or little boys. Give me a wooden bench to sit on, an open top, and a single horse to pull my vehicle. Thats what a real man drives.

I'm so happy someone said it.... lol stop about it. Seriously if the only thing wrong with this car is a small half inch, maybe smaller round disk that you can hardly see in the bumber which turns you away from buying it... i would rethink what your in the market for anyway... maybe a carriage would suit you better, i can pick you one up in lancaster,PA only 45 mins away and from the way it sounds they are exactly what some of you guys are looking for!...

HELLO? Do you guys actually read posts made by other people?

The thing wrong with this feature is a half inch round metal disk called a "dime" that you need to obtain 3,700 MORE of to be able to obtain the car.

I bought her a new 2009 Malibu on 29 June 2009. First payment was due 13 Aug. 2009. She calles me 28 July and tells me she managed to back into a Lowes truck that parked behind her in the apt. complex. Hadn't even made the first payment yet. Why she couldn't just tell them to move their f'ing truck that should be blocking people in to begin with I'll never know...
That's what you get for buying your wife a new car after she demonstrated she does not know how to drive.

You just solved GM's problem for them. Anyone that wants this can tape a $10 gizmo from radioshack onto their bumper and be done with it. Never mind the requirement for multiple sensors, programing of those multiple sensors to work together, cost of creating another bumper, durability of sensors, resistance to elements, minimum detection size, field view, and instillation cost. I've probably missed at least 20 other factors. But that was off the top of my head.

Yeah it might be a $365, option. But if your a College student, and are worried about 365 bucks, then you shouldn't be buying a $34,000 Car.

Ebay has them for sale under back up sensors for under $50 AND IN COLORS, BUT look for the type that announces the distances in feet and tenths of foot, because most made over seas record the distance in meters and tenths of meters, I put a set on my Ram truck and really like them....they record the proximity on the sides as well....they even have the special drill bit included, installing is easy except you have to find where you want to tap into the back up light wiring....

In the September archives is an entire article and photos of the backup sensors. The SRJ package jumped up to $760 from $465. Delivery jumped to $850 from $795. All on Chevy's website. Too easy.

A buddy of mine is getting a Camaro and thinks that this VIN 2G1FC1EV5A9148124 is his. Does anybody know of a way to tell if it has the backup sensors or not? The dealer told him today it will not be in until 10/8. Thanks BT. I do not know what the TPW was.

Depends if it was a "sold or stock order" at a certain date. There is a post somewhere with the actual GM info. sold orders didn't get them and the stock orders had to be revised.
edit:

"STOCK orders scheduled to be produced the week of Aug 31, 2009 will have Rear Park Assist automatically added to orders and prices adjusted accordingly."

"SLD orders "in process" (event code 2000 or greater) will be produced without Rear Park assist regardless of when the order is scheduled for production, and the MSRP will not reflect the $295 increase."

rear view camera coming out soon

Just got my silver Camaro SS over this past weekend - it didn't have the sensors on it. Dealer offered them as a dealer installed option but I didn't want to take the risk of themn drilling 4 holes in the back - and didn't like the look either.

Dealer just called and said a backup camera system / lcd screen built into the rear view mirror will be available as a dealer installed option middle of November. I believe this is the same system in the Equinox. GM is testing the system right now. This system will just require a small pin hole to be drilled somewhere around the license plate area. The system will cost about $1K installed.

Not sure if either solution is really necessary (not really much different backing up a Camaro than any of the SUVs I've had in the past) but if I was to pick one - I'm thinking that the camera option is a better one if you don't want to mess up the back of your Camaro.

I did also test drive a Camaro with the sensors built in...they do work very effectively but again the dots on the back just don't look great in my opinion - particularly on a lighter colored car.

Manufacture Dates

How do I find out my manufacture dates of my Camaro (that 1000, 2000, etc. series)?
