looking for V6 break-in advice....

Hopfully I'll be getting my car sometime around mid-September. After that I was planning on driving it to the Oshawa gathering on the 25th. It's about 600 miles from chicago, so it's not a long drive. Let's say I get the car on the 15th. Would it be a good idea to change it before I leave and should I plan on changing the oil in Oshawa also ?

When I read about varying the speed in the first 1500 miles it's not clear to me how much the speed should be varied. Should I plan a few extra hours for the trip and get off of the highway occaisonally ?

Thanks!

I've had my 2LT since early may and have just over 3k now. Just follow the recomended break-in procedure outlined in the owners manual. I haven't babied it nor abused it either. I changed oil at 1500 and will change again at 5K. Drive the car and enjoy.

Here's the owners manual, section 8-6 for break-in.
