Canada Car Count 2014 shocked

If the numbers are correct I seen, that only #97632 2014 camaros were build and 71481 are V6 motors and only #3029 total production for Canada. Which mean there are not very many 6.2litre camaros in Canada. Still not sure if I belive these numbers. Even less `1LEs, 2SS etc etc as the options are added.

Information I found in a different thread?

2014 Build Counts
Attached are the build counts for 2014. Of note: we built more 2013s than 2012s-- and more 2014s than 2013s! (for those who thought that the new grille and taillamps would be the death of the car) This increase is unheard of 5 years into a lifecycle where a 15% decrease is the rule, not the exception.

We cannot break down the numbers further than this due to the hours upon hours of counting and tabulating - but we DID try to cover color popularity, ZL1, Z/28, spring edition, and magenta edition.

Enjoy!

10 times the population in the US. 10 times more cars sold? Plus the numbers will be lower here as most people want a car they car drive year round

Now you see why GM is pulling out of Oshawa after the last 2015 rolls off the assembly line and moving Camaro production to south of the border.

What are the 2014 Camaro vs Mustang vs Challenger numbers though.

Plenty of cars are built in Canada, and I'm sure their numbers in the states are similar compared to Canada (30:1), simply because of the population difference. I thought they moved the 6th gen to the states because of the frame size change.

2,436 ZL1's in 2014 vs over 8,000 in 2013.
They made way too many in 2013, they were sitting on dealer lots all over and not selling.
Last spring, 2014, there were still lots of people buying 2013's that were left over. And some dealers wouldn't discount them because they factory wouldn't discount.
They finally put a sale on last December to get rid of the overstock.
Yes, the numbers are pretty low in Canada. It's pretty rare that i see another ZL1.

I do wonder what the breakdown is for just Canada. I've yet to see another 2014 driving around... all been 2013s and older.

I just don't understand this mentality. I'm way up in Northern Ontario, like way up there and I use mine year 'round. Have a separate set of rims and winter tires that I bolt on when we start getting snow. These cars are great handlers in winter and so much fun to drive. I'm also a snow plow driver so I drive to work on unplowed roads just to be able to plow them and have never not made it in for a shift, no matter the weather.

There are a few other 5th gens up here, mostly v6's, but I only ever see one other SS in the winter. The other owners I've talked to said they feel more comfortable in thier half-tonnes or suv's in the winter. Understandable, but I just can't see paying for a vehicle all year and not enjoying it immensely when there's snow on the ground, which is nearly half the year up here....

Just remember, if you see a balck SS going by you sideways in a snow storm in NWO, it's not because I'm out of control, it's because I'm having fun

Umm, no I don't. If cars were only built in the country of largest sale - that would dramatically change the manufacturing landscape.. yes? Interesting thought though.. if that applied to all manufacturers.

Agreed, I drove my 2SS - CONVERTIBLE all Winter and the comments and looks I got! I have a separate set of Rims with Blizzak tires, Weather-Tech Mats and had the Car Krown Rust Proofed. People don't realize that almost all manufacturers had changed their Convertible Top Material since 2010 and they are now made to hold up to harsh weather. They are triple layered and actually rated for a foot snow load in the tech specs.
I didn't want to have a car that I could not drive all year round. The season is short enough as it is!
Some of the bad days, I would laugh as I was cruising down the road without trouble watching all these people in Mini-Vans or Ford Escapes spin out and end up in the ditch....likely as they only had all-season tires on!
With dedicated snows, this car is heavy, wide and cuts through the snow with ease. Never once did I not feel safe.
Turn on the Nannies off and then have fun with trying to go down the road sideways as long as possible....yee Haa!

Hell yeah, winter driving! This past winter was brutal at times but it was awesome just shredding past everyone else's beaters.

Can't put a block heater in an SS. There's a sensor plug where the heating element would normally go. I installed a pad style heater to my oil pan and it works beautifully. I plug it in 10-15 minutes before starting my car and I'm good to go. Don't have to use it much though, with the battery in the trunk it's protected from the wind and I've reliably started my car sans heater in -50. Yes, you read that right. Iirc, I got the heater from an agricultural supply store. It's designed for diesel engines, but works flawlessly in this application. Just don't leave it plugged in all night or you'll scorch your oil and even melt the aluminum pan.
