tinted lights

hey all. I've read the Ontario highway traffic act and it doesn't say anything about rear lamps tinting. it only says headlights can not be covered or coloured.

does anyone know if it's illegal to put black smoked out tints on my camaro?

That is a good question I hope we get an answer. I would also like to darken my tail lights

I had a body shop spray tint the the side markers and taillights on my Camaro and on my Silverado I have the GTS taillight covers. I have not had any problems as of yet. They both have been done for about three years

Most provinces don't have trouble with the sides and rear lights.
Been running these for a while in the prairies with no problems.

I don't understand dark lights. Isn't that an oxy-moron?

I have been cut off, and almost hit people who dark out their lights.

I don't understand why you would want to hide the fact that you're turning or stopping.

I know it's illegal in Alberta but not sure about Ontario. I did it on all my previous vehicles but a buddy of mine got hit from behind (not his fault) and since his tail lights were tinted the people that hit him, blamed they couldn't see the tail lights and the insurance said it was a 50/50 fault because of the tinted light. For that reason I have stopped and decided it isn't worth it, plus all the annoying cops pulling me over for it and window tint

Why do you think I got brighter bulbs for my rear lights?

Sent from somewhere on the road.

Light requirement
(4) Any lamp required under subsection (1), (2) or (3) shall, when lighted, be clearly visible at a distance of at least 150 metres from the front or rear, as the case may be. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (4).
