Used Zaino today! Need help.

Hey guys!, I used zaino today on my 04 altima, because i have no camaro to wash , i digress i bought the whole pro edition with everything included. I wasnt able to clay because i dont know what spray i use to lubricate the car as you clay it.(Help here) I wanted to clay but ill do it again some other time, this is exactly what i did. I washed the car with dawn then washed it with the zaino car wash, then i dried the car well. Next I used Z5 polish with zfx to accelerate drying,( WHY IS THE ZFX BOTTLE SOO SMALL??!) in between coats i sprayed the gloss enhancer spray and gave the car 2 coats of z5 and finnished with another gloss enhancing spray. After that the car looked great , I never used Z2 nor do i really know its purpose if you have Z5. And thats it what did i do rite? and what did i not do

I'm sure Moose or one of the other resident Zaino experts will be by soon, but it sounds like you did everything right. To lubricate the car while doing the clay bar some use the detailing spray (sounds like an expensive option to me) while others just leave the car wet after washing with the Z7 car wash (what I did). You can also buy a cheap 16 oz spray bottle and mix a little Z7 car wash and water and use that also. If the clay bar 'sticks' to the car then you need to lubricate more. (I'm sure you guys will have fun with that statement lol).

My understanding is that Z5 is more for removing swirl or cobweb marks in the clear coat and Z2 is used when you don't have those marks to remove. I primarily only use Z2, but I did use Z5 recently on my 2005 Honda Accord which hasn't been babied like this Camaro has and will be It worked well on the Honda to remove some of the marks from automatic car washes. Hope this helps some!

Z5 is used to fill in swirls and small scratchs.. Z2 is used as a final coat or all the coats if you don't have swirls or scratchs. Z2 has better optical properties so it will give you a better final finish then if you use Z5. Your last coat of polish should always be z2.

Nice thanks for info all! I get it, I finnish with Z2 and the lube doesnt really matter so after i wash my car with with Z7 I will clay it. But the final question!! why is the zfx bottle micro mini?

Nick,

Glad to hear you're happy with the results from using Zaino!

Couple of observations;

- Claying: Once you washed the car with 'Dawn', it was not necessary to wash again with Zaino car wash. Seeing as you've applied Zaino polish already, when you do decide to clay, it really isn't necessary to wash with 'Dawn'. (Dawn is used primarily to remove any other wax/polish)

For a spray lubricant, mix a capful of Zaino car wash in a plastic spray bottle (you can find these at Home Depot; Lowes) with water. Begin the claying process by washing the car. Drying it after is not necessary. Begin claying by spraying an area 6" X 6" with the lubricant while moving the clay across the paint surface, using minimal pressure.

Check the clay often, as it will turn black as the contaminants are pulled from the paint and captured in the clay. Knead the clay to a clean area, and proceed to clay the entire vehicle.

Once done, wash again, dry, and begin applying polish.

- ZXF - The reason for the small bottle /amount of "blue stuff" is because that is more than enough for an entire season of detailing. I usually get 2-3 coats out of 1 oz. of polish, with 4 drops added of ZFX.

- Z-2 - Zainos Z-5 does a great job or hiding blemishes, and gives a great shine in itself, but Z-2 just goes that extra "mile" to give a final "wet"/"deep" look.

I hope that info. helped Nick.

Ed

Dont mean to hijack, but it says mix 1oz of z2/z5 with the ZFX, the bottles are 2oz if I remember correct, so just fill it half way right?

Not trying to offend here nickruta...but...did you even read the directions that came in the box that Zaino sent or the ones in the clay bar package or the ones on the Zaino website?

To be honest the 30 plus page instructions I got from zaino where a little intimidating. I find real world help from fellow zaino costumers is better. And it was my first time with the product and there like 10 different bottles. But now that I did it I understand it and it will be much faster and Easter nexttime

This is what the instructions from Zaino recommend. I have done this multiple times and it works great. I would recommend going back and using the clay bar next time you Zaino. it will take longer, but you will be surprised what little metal specks (and other impurities) you will see in the bar when done.

Same here - 1 page front & back. Guess I should have opted for the Ultimate Protection kit instead of the cheap-a$$ Total Protection kit.
