For those wanting the USAA credit....

On 3/27/09 I ordered my 2SS from Reliable Chevrolet in Springfield, MO. When the USAA incentive from General Motors came out, I asked my dealer if they would honor it, they said no, they don't.

Anyway, car comes in and I pick her up on August 13th. Paperwork done, drive home happy with new toy.

A few days later, I get a customer satisfaction survey email from GM...and I stated that I was happy with the dealership service I received, but that it would have been nice to get the modest $750 USAA discount. I completed the survey and emailed it back.

A few days later, my salesman calls me...and says "IF you fax me your USAA membership card we will get you that $750 check ASAP". YEAH! I fax it to him, and now am waiting on the check.

Moral of the story? Tell anyone who asks you the good and not so good...it seems that somebody was reading this survey and told the dealership to honor this. It makes me happy, and I suggest anyone in the same boat do the same, you never know.

It had less to do with the survey than you think. That rebate is a consumer incentive and you were entitled to it right away. Maybe your salesperson originally thought it was like a supplier pricing deal and that's why he said no in the first place.

Nice to see the dealer give it to you and make nice.

My dealer wasn't aware of this info at first and I had to explain that it wouldn't cut into their profit before they did the legwork to make it happen. I ended up sitting in the finance guy's office for an extra 15 or 30 minutes while he went off to figure it out, but hey, it's not like I'm Bill Gates and my time's worth a thousand dollars a second. $750 was worth that wait.
