Decel Exhaust pop ??

I have noticed my SS/M6/LS3 has Decel exhaust noise (gurgle/pop) while in 2nd or 3rd gear and off the gas-pedal slowing down (2000-1300 rpm) while coming to a stop.
Is this normal? Just curious, thanks for any input.

Yes it is normal, most manual cars gurgle and pop when decelerating while the transmission is moving faster than the engine. nothing to worry about. V8's are especially known for this and everyone i know loves it

A good quality exhaust X-pipe usually helps eliminate most of the noise. If you do a CAT-back like the one made by Magnaflow, it has a X-pipe built in as part of the package. Good Luck

The popping sounds absolutely fantastic on our 2SS M6 with the Corsa cat back exhaust, would not have it any other way.

Next Summer????

You do realize that most people are getting it done a local muffler shops for around $100 - $150. It will completely change the sound of your car.

I've heard it can be tuned out but I also heard you'll loose 1-2 mpg. It's supposed to be something GM did to improve mpg.

I've just learned to either push in the clutch or give it just a little gas if I don't want to hear it.

This came from the other decel popping thread....

Quote:
Thats DFCO, you can disable it by tune...

Again...you can learn to control it buy pushing in the clutch just as you start to hear it or on decel and/or give it just a little gas.
