where to add custom Avatar and custom signature?

Guys I did a search and did not find what I wanted to know,

How do you add a custom avatar and a picture signature in your post? I see them all the time and thinks it time I joined ya'll!

the signature is under quick links, on the right side of the navigation bar.
for avatar click quicklinks>user control panel>edit avatar on the left hand side bar.

i just re did my sig(: i like it

How do you get it so long or wide I should say, mine is half as wide as yours.
