I installed both....

I recently removed the Hurst Short throw and installed Barton Industries shifter. Here is an honest comparison.
Both Installation directions are good enough for someone mechanically inclined to suceed.
Both are realitively easy to install. Both have same issues, tight quarters bolts small and hard to get at.
Hurst slid into it's hub holder easier. Bartons a little tight going in.
Where I think Barton has the edge is with it's adjustable length of the shaft. I didn't care for the tough feeling shifts,or the missed ones that happened to me with the Hurst. I had to always pull or push with alot more effort than what I thought or wanted to do. Bartons allowed me to make adjustments to get the feel I as lookng for. Sure it took me longer to get out on the steet but it was only a few test rides before I had it right where I felt it needed to be. The added ability to make adjustment and the $179 difference in price has me sold.

This s my opinion only, however I feel I needed to do this becase I've seen other people who are not happy with the Hurst but I haven't seen a write up with any of them changing thier shifters out
