Slit scoop (mailslot) delete?

I'm planning on ordering a SS soon my question is how do I get rid of the slit scoop on the nose? I have seen RS SS without them and with them so i'm confused!! whats the deal?

SS's do not come without the mailslot. Either they bought a V6 front fascia (doubt that) or that bought some badging(more likely).

And in the process ruined their engines. In all seriousness: The V8 fascia is specially designed for the LS3/L99's cooling needs. It's wider (as is the concepts fascia) than the V6 fascia if you measured it, which is why some people just go ahead and either fill the slot in with fiberglass and body filler or hack up a V6 fascia and paste it together on a V8.

Yea I too love the look of the mail slot but I do have 2 gripes with it, a) it's not functional and there is no way to make it functional and b) it screws up to many choices of hoods without getting a new fascia.

It was sarcasm guys. Basically to drive the point home to the poster that it probably wasn't wise to do such a thing. Maybe my words were a bit..strong?

Either way, Hylton's Camaro is probably the best example of how to do it on a limited budget.

Which, by the by.. I may be doing if when I get an SS.
