Top Gear Power Laps

Since the Camaro is American, I can expect a little bashing of the Camaro on Jeremy Clarkson's part when he gets his car on one, however, I am still interested in seeing what the Camaro will run around the Top Gear track. My guess is 1:29. Here's the current times:

he doesn't hate american cars, he likes to talk up on both the upside and down of them. and to be honest the euro thrashers are a bit more civilized. he loved the Vette on the track he only took issue once he drove it on a street. Some of it he plays up for the european audience

I guess 1:28 MIGHT be possible. I believe the Roush Mustang has 430hp and it did it in 1:28. The Mustang weighs less, but the Camaro has IRS so that should help with the handling. I can't remember if the track was wet or not either.

No, Jeremy Loves Camaros! I bet he's first in line for ordering a Camaro. He tried really hard to by a Camaro in the Summer special and found one. It was an 86 RS but he really wanted a the 00 RS but couldn't get the guy to sell it to him for 1000 bucks. He loves Camaros. I'm telling you. He loved the Vauxhall V8 w/ the new zeta suspension, he will adore the Camaro SS. If I were the producers at Top Gear, I'd get an SS for him to test this year, and when the Z/28 comes out they do it again the following year. They will test the new Camaro in some form or fashion on that show.

Didn't he say he'd rather drive that RS than a Maserati?

No better than 1:27. but, Jezza nor "The Stig" would be bothered with such a "mullet-head" peace of tripe. It's bollocks, after all. : - (

Vauxhall VXR8 1.31.3
500 HP G8, on a Wet Track.

So a 400 HP Camaro on a Dry track will be a similar time, maybe a hair quicker.

Their attitude toward American cars really bugged me until I realized that if it was my show, I'd talk sh!t about British cars. Its all part of the joke.

Ok, first of all, your getting your 1's and 7's mixed up. And second of all, the Roush DOES have IRS (they changed the suspention). It also has better brakes. It gonna be pretty hard for the Camaro SS to beat the Roush. Watch this video of the GT500. At the end they do lap times of the GT500 and the Roush

I thought the VXR8 had like 420hp.

i believe it's a supercharged LS3 putting out about 500 horse, could be wrong,

The VXR (GTO) was 500hp Supercharged LS2

I don't know if there is some special car you are talking about, but the VXR they had on Top Gear had 382 hp. I just watched the vid.

LOL, woops. I fixed it. I would still like to know what the SS would do though considering the GT500 did it in 1:30, while the Roush did it in 1:28 despite having 85hp less. Which is why 1:29 was my first guess, but who knows what will happen.
