Man, I thought I was alone on not really liking the way BMW's look...this thread is like my support group.

edit: on 2nd thought, I like the BMW 1200GS's. I'd take the SS and a 1200GS, then tell people I have a Camaro and a BMW and I'd still have change left over the AMG. There ya go- a perfectly reasonable solution.

Yea I guess everything is subjective, but having been in / driven both cars, Id say the AMG is more exciting but the M3 is nicer.

And if your going that direction, go pick up a Camaro V6 Daily Driver and a Ducati on the side

I like the Mercedes and all, but I'd pick the Camaro for the same reason I traded my BMW in for the Camaro. Sometimes the decisions aren't about specs, they aren't about status, they aren't about performance numbers....sometimes you just buy something because that is what you want. I understand where the OP is coming from...I'm sorry, but you can pull a C63 AMG and a Camaro SS into nearly any parking lot in American on any given day, and 100% of the time the camaro will get more attention. I never had anyone video or snap pictures of my BMW while I was driving down the road, I've already had that happen to me in the camaro more times than I can count. (Reason 1)

With CCW drag pack (MT DR) and tune the fastest on dragtimes ran 11.4 @ 121...the 121 trap shows you what kind of power the car is making....for reference my car with less than 10K of mods and NO drag radials trapped 123. (Reason 2)

Its just me, but although I'm sure there are more amenities and more features..how much crap do you really need...all most of that stuff does anyway is to dilute driver involvement...and more technology to break. Also, I will say that IMHO I dont think the interior of my BMW was any nicer (or higher quality) than the Camaro....Plastic/rubber is plastic/rubber, leather (to me) is leather...Although the seat design was WAY more comfortable in the BMW. (Reason 3)

To me, the price difference is greater than the quality/performance difference. Not to mention, the LSX platform allows much greater and less expensive modifications, and cheaper parts if you break something...So I agree with the OP, there is a tough decision to be made...I've already made mine.

The C63 AMG has been out for a couple of years. Two years from now a black Camaro and Black AMG pull into the parking lot together, no way is the Camaro getting more attention 100% of the time.

You want speed buy a Ducati and save 15k

It is painfully obvious you haven't driven the AMG. No one would begin to compare let alone mistake the interior quality or the amenities the car provides.

To me, the price difference is greater than the quality/performance difference. Not to mention, the LSX platform allows much greater and less expensive modifications, and cheaper parts if you break something...So I agree with the OP, there is a tough decision to be made...I've already made mine.
Valid point about the bang for buck, but the C63 AMG allows for much more value for dollar concerning mods. Go talk to the guys on their forum, they will talk about the 1000 dollars to 550hp plan haha.

Naw, I don't want a sport bike. I have a KLR650 and I go exploring in the mountains, pet hobby of mine- but I am likely replacing that this winter (buy your MC's in winter everyone) with either the 1200GS or a KTM 990 Adventure.

edit: LOL at staying way off topic. Sorry OP. Actually- I'll go make my own vs

On August 28th I purchased my 2009 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Mars Red. I got a disccount of $12000 plus a tint window job. The 2009 C63AMG have a huge disccount, 2 weeks ago there were only a few hundred left in the country so you should still be able to grab one at a huge disccount.

Mercedes Benz is offering $7500 off the MSRP before you even negotiate with them, USAA(insurance bank company) offers a few thousands more discount under their new car buying program. I also saved like $1200 or more on registrations fees for being in the military.

Anyways, my well loaded C63 AMG was about $53000 and change. I gladly traded my 2008 POS C6 Z06 with its super duper POS transmission(Tremec TR6060) and I don't look back, even though the car only had 11000 miles and $6000 worth on mods.

Anyways, I also went to the dealer twice to check out the Camaros, this is before I even got the C63. They only had the V6 engine. I actually sat in the car and tried the rear seats and knocked with my bare knuckles the hollow dash. While I must say the Camaro is a decent deal for its price and performance it still lacks on many aspects and once you add options it will get very expensive.

If you have the money go for the C63 AMG, it cost more but you also get a whole lot more: AMG 6 piston brakes with 14.2" slotted/cross drilled rotors(even bigger than on the Z06), you get a AMG G-tronic plus 7 speed transmission with paddles shifters that is smooth silk, you get off course HID, moonroof, and many other cool things.

By the way, the AMG is about 3800lbs not like 4800lbs that someone suggested. Worst 0-60 mph I seen is 4.3 sec and best 3.9 sec. Worst 1/4 mile was 12.5@113.8 and best 12.3@116. A Kleemann ECU software gives you roughly 50whp and 45lb-tq to the wheels. The AMG engine is a hand built, blue printed and balanced engine and it sounds bad ass. The exhaust is tuned also. Remember this engine should be rated at 507hp but because Mercedes don't want to hurt the sales on the E series they had to detune de engine to 451hp/443lb-tq.

If you don't believe me please go to www.mbworld.org and look what the E 63 series vs the C63 series output power after a software tune. The E63 picks maybe 15hp while the C series picks 60hp plus.

Well, the least I can say is go to a dealer and check one out. I love the Camaro SS with the RS package, I almost got me one but instead I purchased a Evo IX from a member here that ended buying a Cmaaro SS RS(member name evotion).

My bitter experience with Chevrolet started with a ****ed up Tremec Transmission(TR-6060) on my 08 Z06. GM did me wrong. My Chevrolet failed for many things with such low mileage. I had to take it 3 times for sway bar end links(broken), driver window not rolling up,alternator going bad, clutch fluid defect from the throwut bearing, grinding gears. Chevrolet never gave me a loaner car, it was a total hassle to have someone droping me off the day before so that the dealer can "look" at my car the next day and someone dropping me off again at the dealer so that I could get my car picked up the following day. I never got offered a loaner.

On a different note, Mercedes gave me a 2010 C300 loaner a few days until my car was been shipped in a truck, they kept giving me a car when I had my tint windows done. Night and day. I fully understand the Mercedes maintenance will probably cost more but don't full yourself, the labor is very similar in GM and Mercedes, parts will be cheaper on the Chevrolet though.

Best of luck and PM me if you have any questions. Here are some pics on my ride(C63AMG) and my previous C6Z06:

Its painfully obvious that you fail to understand that BMW is the ultimate driving machine not Mercedes (1), a comment was made about German auto's being the king, and since BMW crowns Mercedes as the enthusiasts car, I'm comparing something "better" than the Mercedes for reference. The ride of the C63 is harsh, and considering this is a 4door and should offer some "comfort" cruising around town, did I mention it too is obese like the camaro, which also like the camaro has a problem with an overdamped suspension, but unlike the camaro, its brakes are subject to fade when pushed, and in driving typical of an enthusiaist it gets (gulp) 10mpg...but I guess that's what you get for 60k...10mpg is a pretty good value...I'm only getting around 20mpg in mixed driving with my 550rwhp camaro though. Granted the C63 AMG runs better than its spec sheet suggests, the 6.2L motor is arguably superior to the LS3 in terms of how the car runs vs power output...IE you will not see a LS3 camaro with headers and CAI (which would be rated probably over 450hp flywheel based on rwhp #'s) run 12.3 @ 116, or at least I don't think you would.

OH, and you said if I want speed by a ducati?? Why because for 20K less I'm faster?? The Mercedes is a "sports" sedan, while you do get an incredible amount of "sport", it doesn't match the amount of sport you can get for alot less money with "other" cars...IMHO.

And as far as amenities and interior, "Yes, some of the interior plastics aren’t up to par, but the C-class experience is about more than plastic", says one review. I'm sure like all AUDI, BMW and Mercedes, the amenities and interior's are very impressive, my point was, what the heck does it matter...Leather is leather, plastic is plastic...its not like the interior is made of platinum....or the car drives itself...I have had fine German auto's and can honestly say, I'm no more impressed with the materials or the ergonomics than I am with the Camaro. Could the Camaro seats be better, YES, could it have Nav, yeah, but factory nav's by and large suck and you have to pay to update them, my google GPS on my blackberry as done just fine. I'd like to have memory seats, but other than that, I don't know what else I could ask for...IDrive, or something similar I can live without. For the $$ you saved you could get DRV customs to do a full custom interior...FWIW.

The price of entrace on the Mercedes is far too high to commend it with any "value" title (2), you pay 60K for it then say a mod for 50rwhp is only $1000...so what, you just paid 60K, so with the mod, your at 61K...big whoop.

I like the Mercedes, I really do, but If I had 60K to spend on any car in the world, that wouldn't be it, it probably wouldn't be in my top 10.

I'm not trying to argue, but this is not a black and white decision, picking a car never is, there is more to this decision than "pimpness", or the badge on the front of the car, or the price tag, and your just being close minded if you don't understand there ARE reasons why someone might select the Camaro over this C63...so the OP is not crazy in thinking this is a tough decision.

Well I guess that depends where you take the Car. If you pull into your local win dixie the Camaro will get attention all day long, but if you pull into an enthusiast environment than the Merc will get all the eyes.

But your right, the Merc does have a good amount of air diffusers... but unlike the Camaro they are functional.

BMW is the ultimate driving machine? OHHH your one of those who believes in their advertising slogan . I got news for you, Porsche/Lotus/Ariel/Ferrari (the list could go on) all clearly make better 'driving machines' than BMW. Merc makes their cars with more power/torque ability, which most would agree is much more exciting when your not on a racetrack. 99.9999% of the time.

As for the attempt at putting down the C63. I sent your reply over to the C63 board, they should be getting back to you shortly with some....''Performance figures''

OH, and you said if I want speed by a ducati?? Why because for 20K less I'm faster?? The Mercedes is a "sports" sedan, while you do get an incredible amount of "sport", it doesn't match the amount of sport you can get for alot less money with "other" cars...IMHO.

No I said buy a ducati because if your argument is less money = more speed = better... than your stupid for buying a car.

And as far as amenities and interior, "Yes, some of the interior plastics aren’t up to par, but the C-class experience is about more than plastic", says one review. The AMG line is much nicer than a normal C. Comparison of a Normal C to a Camaro would be embarrassing, the comparison of an AMG to a camaro would be pointless.

The price of entrace on the Mercedes is far too high to commend it with any "value" title (2), you pay 60K for it then say a mod for 50rwhp is only $1000...so what, you just paid 60K, so with the mod, your at 61K...big whoop.

Again, if you want cheap speed your an idiot for looking at cars. The AMG is worth the money easily (I cant believe im having this conversation) because of not only the quality of the car, but the aftermarket ability of the best engine you can buy.

I like the Mercedes, I really do, but If I had 60K to spend on any car in the world, that wouldn't be it, it probably wouldn't be in my top 10.

No you'd take a cheap american car and modify it

Pointing out the obvious. Somebody has to do it esp. when the OP could take your posts seriously.

I'm not a big fan of the underdog, upsets happen when the best team doesn't win. There wont be much arguing, you like to throw a lot of numbers out about the AMG, now we'll see if your full of it or not.

Most of your comments are based on subjective topics, because if you go based on numbers they aren't valid, 60K, 10mpg, 12.3 @ 116, 4000lb, etc, all NOT good AND Factual.

Not really... unless you call 'nicer' 'faster' 'better handling' subjective

If you're assuming your opinions become fact the moment you release them from your mouth, then you really need to wake up from your day dream...

The only ''opinion'' I had was that the AMG wasn't as good looking as the M3

Ahhh... we are progressing into the later stages of arguments. When we stop paying attention to the (loosing) argument and start talking about the person presenting the opposite view.

I'm done with you've been drinking too much German coolaid.

right
btw what kind of bmw was it?

Well C63 AMG is 66K for the new ones I believe.. its a sedan.. it is loaded with luxury and still a little faster then the camaro. it also handles better too..
so well if u like 4 doors (i do) and u have $66K to spend on a car by all means get the C63..

If I had either car I'm sure I would be happy.. you will get compliments on either one you get..

does C63 have a manual option. I only see the 7speed auto.. yes I know it shift faster then I could ever dream to0 but manual more fun..

There is only one transmissioon available on the C63, is a special built AMG G-tronic plus auto 7 speed with 3 driving modes(Comfort,Sport and manual),it comes with paddles shifters as well.

As per the price, you are not been fair, you are grabbing the MSRP and adding all the options. I already said that I got a decently loaded C63 AMG for $53000 after getting a $12000 off the MSRP.

I said before that Mercedes Benz is ofeering $7500 off the MSRP, plus you get another few thousand off if you are a USAA member plus whatever you can negotiate from that specific dealer.

Are you the type of guy that will pay MSRP? if you are then I will be more than glad to help you on life. You seem to be the one that have the dealer take your money away, I am the opposite, I will walk away with the $12000 in my pocket.

Ouch.. didnt see reply where u said u had a price already..
I was not trying to be unfair. I was the C63 is a good price. Not knowing what deals people get I could not possible start saying a low price cuz then I would just be making things up. Everyone knows u can get under MSRP. I got that price from what magazine said there was as tested.
I didn't even pay MSRP for my Camaro where in NY almost every dealer trying to get over $3K something $5K over MSRP for camaro.. **** paying MSRP or higher..
You didnt have to be so rude.

You could literally get 2 Camaros for the price of 1 C63 AMG.

But the AMG is worth it for sure.... with the detuned engine a tune unlocks some crazy horsepower potential and Check out this sound from inside the car:

Sounds beautiful, but doesn't it just seem wrong that a benz sounds like that? i mean sounds ridiculous but you look at the car and the sound just doesn't go lol i rather them be quiet and quick they are still luxury cars.. it's like looking at a video of a cat barking...
