Special Dealer Modifications ?

Anyone know if there will be any special dealer modifications, such as what was done back in the late 60's with Yenko?

Thanks,

We don't 'know' but to say that there won't be any cooperation between aftermarket companies/dealers and Chevrolet would be like saying that the Camaro SS will come with under 300 hp. Its posible because we don't know for sure, but the odds are pretty slim.

There will not be a Yenko though, the name and dealership are now owned by Honda. COPO won't happen either. But there were lots of people who did stuff for the 4th gens.

I'd put money on it that we'll see SLP in on the action.

I'm VERY sure there will be some others too.

I've been watching the Mecum auction Saturday on Discovery HD and after watching a 69' Yenko go for 400K+ (and a ZL1 go for 800K), I was wondering what happened with the dealership. Thank you for answering a question before I even got to ask the question.

I would be very surprised if GM is unaware of the potential for making an extra buck or 2 by addressing this question...

Best regardSS,

I think GM should still try to make the car as good as they can though. I'd rather have a warranty and the piece of mind that they've thoroughly tested every square inch of the car, as opposed to a dealer adding on some stuff and possible sacrifice some durability in the long-run.

Motion Performance is still around, I think they've already announced on their web site that they are going to be doing packages for the 2010 Camaro. And there are a few dealers/shops that have done things in the past that I feel will do so again.

SLP started out modding Firebirds back in the late 80s, they were called Firehawks. As the company grew, they worked in conjunction with Gm to build later model 4th gen Camaro SS's and Firehawks. They now make all kinds of performance parts for many domestic vehicles. I guarantee they will offer go-fast goodies for the new Camaro.

I would bet my life on it. I'm sure Berger, Tom Henry and others will get in the act. However with the acc. that GM is coming out with just about any dealer can do one.

first engine mod I'm planning is STS remote mount turbo system with all the fixings and things that need to be upgraded to make it run smoothly. Then I'm not sure.

Yeah; you know, I TiVo'd a little clip of them from an American Musclecar episode they did on tuners. I forgot the exact name, but in the episode, they showed how ?Joe Rosen? and company took new '69 bodies and made them all up and stuffed all kinds of good stuff in them. They were too ricey in my opinion, but it's good to read that they've announced they're going to participate in the new model.

Thank goodness; an old school company Thanks for the info' Clyde.
