Interaction with Local Police Officers

so i go into London Drugs yesterday. before i went in i noticed a police car parked in front of the store. i parked a few spaces down. when i come out of the store (about 10 min later) the 2 cops are standing around my car checking it out They were really interested and asked lots of questions like the HP, the engine, they really thought the Halos were cool. the one officer says to me "this is the nicest car on the street right now." It was really cool to interact with the police in a positive way about this car, instead of the more common negative way (speeding tickets or whatever)...anyway, thought i would share

from my experience, they are people too, and most of them I know are "car guys" as well. If you treat them with respect, they will return it. Friendships can be built, and good ones to have as well.

I had an officer stop while I was waiting for the light near my house to change green and he yelled out "Hey! I'll trade ya!"

Cops have been real cool about my car so far. In my town I was waiting to turn left at a light that a cop was sitting at coming towards me. I have no front license plate in a state that requires them. The cop had the right of way when the light turned green, I waited for him to go by but they (2 officers in the car) just sat there looking at I assume my car. The driver cop then waved me on to turn in front of him. I though oh crap they noticed the plate and as soon as they see my rear end they will realize I have Ohio plate’s not temp tags and they’re going to pull be over for no plate. They just watched me drive by and then continued in the other direction. I assume they just wanted to watch it go by, I think I have the only one in town back a month ago when this happened.

Then on a trip through the mountains we stayed and a hotel in Asheville NC where there was a police officer convention. Two guys in street clothes came up to me while I was outside registration and started asking a bunch of questions about the car and acted very impressed with it. Then they mentioned they were police officers from Raleigh NC that were there for the convention.

So far I have only had pleasant experiences with police in this car. I hope it stays that way because I have trouble with always driving this car within the law. If you own an SS you know what I mean, it breaks most speed limits in less than 5 seconds. To always stay at or under most speed limits you only get about 3 seconds of WOW before you need to shut her down.

I was showing the car to a friend of mine at her beauty salon in the parking lot and an officer pulled up next to us to see if he could look at my car, I said sure and showed him everything. He LOVED it! He is a mustang owner and said he may just convert after seeing my car! He asked was it as fast as they say? I said yes I have been enjoying the speed but "respectfully" he said cool!

I had a cop pull up and ask how fast she was I replied "Turn on your lights get behind me and let's find out." He declined the offer.

I had a similar situation here in Dallas. Was stopped at a light in the left turn lane. Two officers in a squad car pulled up beside me & motioned me to roll down the passenger window. Had nothing but compliments on the look of the car. The officer driving asked about the engine, etc. Also asked how fast it would go. My response was "you'll never get to see from me." He laughed and smiled. Light turned green and we all waved as we went on our respective way. Was a neat encounter.

It's always a treat to have a positive encounter with the "LAW"... They are people too and most are definitely car guys (gals). You can't but help to appreciate such an awesome car.

I was walking into the grocery store over the weekend, and a County Sheriff pulled in front of me (before the entrance) and asked, "Is that your car?" and pointed to my SS. I replied, "Yes sir, it is". "Mind if I take a look?". "Sure".

I walked back over and gave him my "amateur car dealer" walk through (I've done it a MILLION times now, GM should hire me )

He then asked if I minded hanging out for a few so he could call a couple of his buddies to come see it and his daughter (because she wants one badly). I had some time to waste so I said sure.

Next thing I know, 3 more sheriff deputy cars show up and his daughter in a Ford F150 and the impromptu single car show began!

I let his daughter sit in it (she was a cutie) and check it out while everyone else just hung out and talked about how their patrol cars would fair against my camaro. (the general consensus was, they couldn't catch me)

It was a funny experience and I made a lot of "cop buddies" that day.

Everthing has been very positive ever time an officer has asked me,this includes local, county and state..The state cop that tailgated me for 6 blocks has seen too many episodes of Dukes of Hazzard..

I had a city officer stop at my driveway when I came home one day. Just wanted to ask about the car. The man that lives across the street came out and said. "YOU GOT PULLED OVER IN YOUR DRIVEWAY BECAUSE THE CAR JUST LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING FAST." The cop thought that way funny.

My wife went to dinner with a friend from grad school and her husband while I was out of town for work. Her husband is a really cool local sherrif's officer who is nice enough to ensure that my illegal tint tickets are properly corrected.

He hadn't seen a Camaro up close yet and is a major car nut, (usually imports) my wife opens the door and he jumps in the drivers seat and asks for the keys. My wife laughs and he says he has to confiscate my car due to illegal tint. When she quit laughing she promply escorted him out of my car and back to his civic.

He now has his own 2SS/RS on order!

I still haven't gotten the for the "radar check" on a closed road yet though. I'll work on that later when his car actually hits production.

I'm in a small college town, the only interaction I have had was getting harrassed for "hitting a green truck." my camaro was spotless with not even a door ding, and they checked the car before questioning me
