My dealer went to GM info meeting in Baltimore last week and they told him 10,000 more R6P's . All they said was GM dropped the ball on the way they handled their ordering process . ( Do ya think )

I know all about these three threads
first one is completely polluted with everyone that has ordered a Camaro
second one is 4 months old on the last post
third one is a month old on its last post

That's a little incorrect (10,000).

And part of the blame is on dealers who took deposits WELL OVER their allocation for the first cycle through September.

My dealer is a small farming community dealer that had one origional "SOLD" pre order allocation I was order #1 Dec 4th then he had one other order in his pre order which showed up in early Jan 09. Certainly don't see it as his fault in this case.

I am a GM man all the way but in my opinion GM dropped the ball bigtime on pre orders and catered to the big city high volume dealers. My Dec 4th "SOLD" order per GM's requirement is still hanging out there and from the looks of it 9,999 others are still waiting as well.

Sorry for the rant this llloooonnnggg wait just plain sucks when I see cars being delivered within 5 weeks of ordering.

Yes I know I could have gone to another dealer but I am a loyal customer to my dealer and he is a good freind of mine. Hopefully my car will get a TPW soon.

I've been saying the same thing.... GM has been catering to the dealers and NOT the customers..... ALL orders should have been put into a central bank, then be pulled in the order they came in ...... First in - First out ..... Doesn't take a genius to figure that out !!!

I have been Gm my whole life . 60 years . Now drive an 08 Trailblazer LT , 98 GMC 1500 , my 2010 Camaro and a 58 4dr BelAir Hardtop . Unless GM can tell me something as to why my Oct ordered Camaro took till Labor Day to get I will never drive another one of their cars or trucks . They have a lot of explaining to do to a lot of us LOYAL customers .

I'm still waiting for my R6P car. 44,659 cars came before my 10/21 order :(

Better late than never though. I should have it around the end of this month.

While the dealers did act "underhanded" by doing so IMO, the bigger problem is the same problem over and over and over-> the average customer is uneducated in the process.

GM did no such thing. They are stuck with the system because of the franchise agreements and laws surrounding them with the dealerships. Had the dealerships in question told people the truth about how the process worked and that they were ordering cars they knew they wouldn't get for a LONG time, would you still blame GM?

Believe me, in the conversations I've had, GM would have LOVED to build the cars first come-first served. They simply were not allowed to do it.

Back in October 08, ALL dealers were given their individual PGN (Production Guide Number). That was the number of Camaros that each could expect to get, from the beginning of production, through September 09. For lack of an easier way to put it, assume your dealer was told that their PGN was 12. The best that dealership could assume was that they would AVERAGE being able to actually place into production 2 per month April-September. The dealership that was told 24 could assume an average of 4 per month. Where is got "vague" is with the small dealerships that were told 1 or 2. I was told that those dealerships could expect to get their cars "in the middle" of the cycle. If I was told that, you can be sure that they were also.

All that being said, if someone is still waiting for their R6P order after this month, it's because a dealer that was told their PGN was 12, ordered 16 (or whatever above their PGN). They were only guaranteed what they were told in their initial PGN. They could have taken orders for 50 cars in October but regardless, they could only count on 12. If they ordered more, without telling the customer they were exceeding their PGN, shame on them.

As I stated earlier I was # 1 of one at my dealer so obviously he did not exceed his PGN.

Well that sucks. Not that I don't believe what you're telling me but I find it hard to believe that anyone that was in the #1 position anywhere doesn't have their car- even if you were #1 of 1. Who's the dealer?

as a side note, "closing" dealers are not getting Camaro's, unless they work with another dealership to transfer the allocation to...and work out a deal.

I also ordered 10/17/08 from a small rural dealer with one allocation, so I also am one of one allocation. As of Friday, I am still at 1100 and no one knows why! Dealer has posters all over the walls and is not closing!
