2016 SS Goodyear Runflat Tires

Are these the same size of tire on the SS 5 gen?

Also anyone have any idea on the mile life expectancy on the tire? 12,000?

Yes they are the same size...12,000, they better be a lot more than that. The last pair of Goodyear Eagle F1's I had on my 4th gen SS, non-runflats, had a lot more miles than that on them. Not sure how long these will last.

Well the tire is Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 run flat summer tires. Seeing how
Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 run flat has 45k mile warranty I would expect at least 45k. Seeing the price of the tires I would hope something would warrant a warranty exchange on about 42k.

They are not the same size, 5th gen had 245/45/20 front, 275/40/20 rear. The 6th gen SS comes with 245/40/20 front and 275/35/20 rear. Makes them about an inch smaller in diameter, which is a big difference, and will remove some weight where it will definitely help. I don't have high hopes for the runflats as far as performance or tire life though.

Yes you are right, my bad, forgot they have a smaller/thinner profile to them than the 5th gen.

I checked Goodyear's website for the Asymmetric 2's, they say that they have NO tread life warranty on them, not sure about the 3's yet.

So if these tires won't be good performance wise, what would be the best tires to put on a ss once it gets here?

Michelin Pilot Super Sport's are considered the gold standard by many. About $1300 for a set. #1 rated tire on TireRack in the segment (max perf summer)

This is probably the best answer you're going to get for now.

I haven't been able to find any data on the new Goodyear tires for the Camaro, but I found a few internet discussions about other performance tire warranties. I found a few discussions where the tire company Rep said they only stand behind the treadlife warranty if you have a square tire setup and do a 4-wheel rotation as recommended. As we all know the Camaro has a staggered tire size so we can't do the normal 4-wheel rotation. I guess we will have to get the magnifying glasses out and read the fine print to see what Goodyear and the dealers will actually do for us under warranty. I guess we will also have to read the fine print to see if there are any temperature limits on the Goodyear warranty like there were with the P-Zero tires.

I am of the belief that if you have a tire with a 45K mile warranty on a car like this, and you actually GET 45K miles out of them....then you bought way to aggressive a car for your driving style. These cars are meant to DRIVE. When doing so, 30k miles is great. I dont ever look at treadlife warranties on Z+ rated tires or mud tires. I look at traction and handling attributes.
