yes in the electrical context it is another way of saying parallel. However, the general definition of the term is "to sidetrack; get rid of". Therefore, Shunt has been shunted.

I think it happened like this:

Opening scene in Goodfellas -

Replace brown 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix with white 2010 Camaro

Camaro team member#1 is in back seat where Tommy was

Scott is in driver's seat, where Henry Hill was, #2 in passenger seat, Jimmy........

(Muffled thumping noises comming from back of Camaro).........

Tommy: What the f*** is that? What's goin on back there?

Jimmy: Scott you better pull over it sounds like you ran over somthing

Scott: Do I have a flat tire?

Tommy: Pull the f*** over........

Scott pulls car over, all three get out, Scott pulls rope to open trunk......

There in trunk lies Shunt, still bleeding from the beating he took over the headlight arguement, but still alive. Jimmy pulls out a gun and Tommy pulls out his knife and they proceed to finish the job.

Scott looks up into camera, as camera zooms in to his face his voiceover says:

"For as long as I could remember, I always wanted to be a gangster"

Breaking News!!!!

Shunt was almost saved but the almost good samaritan spent to much time admiring the camaro and was run off before he could save Shunt or more importantly get new pics of the car.
