Is it safe to assume that this is more of a mod to the trim piece for the radio bezel to fit a double DIN unit? It looks like nice work and a great match of the color.

I think the new head itself is an off-the-shelf one and it probably loses the functions that control the car options like the lighting delays and those functions that the stock unit allows you to program, correct?

Im gonna guess and say that the switch is connected to a ground then to the head unit. In order for in-dash dvd players to play video they want you to install a ground from the emergency brake ground to the head unit. They want you to put the e-brake on the off then on, the head unit needs the on-off-on signal to play video so many people use a switch connected to a ground to the head unit to simulate the on-off-on signal. Hope that makes sense.

ltlaudio had to do all kinds of advanced electrical work to sort out those functions. It's MUCH more than just a dash mold.
Pull that trim off and look.

Its a double din receiver behind the pretty front.

Love it. Seems like a big job. How long do you think it would take since you have it all figured out?

Out of the GM onstar adapters on the market right now.... I'm not sure if any work with the camaro's harness.

Keep in mind, they do have adapters to carry through on star features into aftermarket receivers... should be a matter of time. Unless he tried a couple and found one that worked.

LTAudio: Did you retain any on star functionality / outside temp etc?

I guarantee you, the receiver behind it is a double din. The mounting hardware in the console is all rigged for sliding in that size. Its the front trim that is the issue. For that, kudos to building a clean trim kit.

Looks good.
Not really for me. The factory head unit does everything I need it to do. (bluetooth, ipod, sat radio and cds)

Nice flippen job man that is sweet.

I think by switching out a touchscreen and hooking up a "carputer" would be killer.

Excellent job by far the coolest mod on here to date!!!

I think the radio is a nav, so what pay on star $10 a month for the rest of your cars life. I'd much rather have a touch screen Nav.

If you are selling count me in

That looks awesome. Fantastic work.

If you sell a kit or something count me in. Although I still won't have my car for a couple more months. I ordered back in June and it's supposed to get pulled for production next month.

My only requirement is that all the stock GM features still work with the mod.

That is one of the few things that I thought was missing. Some people don't want a built in nav, but I do. I have one in my expedition and IMO it is much better then the portable units (I got my wife one for her car). Lack of wires, don't need to remember to bring it with you, etc.

Again great job and hopefully you'll be able to put something together that I can buy from you that will make it much easier for me.
