Well I installed the 8W high powered LED from v-leds today. Still haven't gotten around to installing the zeners to have them come on in the day. (I used a flashlight and shined it on the photocell for the DRL's to come on in the night just to see how they would look, if your wondering how I got them to come on)

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/P...26829-1-2.html

I also pre-ordered the P13W and I hope they are as bright as these!! The reason I ordered the P13W's is because I prefer to have the direct replacement bulb.

I also noticed 3 of the LED's on one of the bulbs was flickering then went off, this might be because some DRLs use a lower voltage, (not sure if this is the case with the camaro but I might check the voltage on it tomorrow with a meter) so I removed the bulb and hooked it up to a 12V power supply and left it on for a while and the 3 LEDs stay on fine.

Wow, those are pretty bright!

The DRLs do run on a lower voltage, though I dont have the numbers to show it. That could be the problem with those 3 diodes. Do both bulbs do it? If not, I'd try sending it back and get a new one.

The DRL's are run from the BCM with a PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) signal. This is true for for the RS (T4F) and the non-RS (T4A) cars. This is why you are not seeing full voltage at the DRL's. You could work around this using a relay, but it would involve some rewiring. I'm discussing this in my car's thread here http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47925. I'll post information as I figure it out.

Did the zener mod this weekend and now want to change to LEDs. Any suggestions for another site to get the bulbs from? V-leds is out of stock (probably because of this post!).

I did the zener diode mod today. Is it just my imagination or do my foglights look really dim??

they look dim because chevy never meant them to be a light for you to be able to see......they were made for a DRL so others can see you. I did the same mod and when i did it, I also did the led bulb/ socket upgrade and now they have a purpose. Do you think they are more dim since before you did the mod?

Yeah I'm thinking they look dimmer than before I started the mod. I'm not sure how that would be possible though.

There is a slight difference in brightness from DRL mode to fog mode. But the DRL mode should not have been effected in any way.

Pull up to a building with glass, in daylight, so you can see the lights in the reflection, then turn your park lights on and off, and watch the difference.

The main reason for the difference (I think), is that when in fog mode, we borrow voltage and amperage from a source that is already dealing it out to something else. So that source is now powering 2 things, instead of 1, with the same voltage and amperage, causing them to be slightly dimmer.

You dont notice it as much with LED fogs, so you'll have to do that one next!

I compared the foglights on all three modes. DRL's, parking lights, and manual head light mode. There is no difference in brightness of the foglights.

What LED bulbs are we using now for this mod? Is anyone making LEDs to fit the RS DRL housing yet? I'm out of the loop.. haha

Looks like V-LEDs bulbs are back in stock if anybody was looking for some.
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/B...35716-1-2.html

I've had these bulbs and sockets in place now since September, and over 6,000 miles, temperatures from 17 to 90 degrees, through heavy rain, hard winds, sleet, and even snow with zero problems. No water in the housings, and the bulbs/sockets are still in there tight!

Just did mine today following thebrainhart's instructions using V-LEDs bulbs. I'll have to get a better shot at night, but I'm already a huge fan of the look vs the stock yellow color.

The plug and play harness from adaptive fell out, I just noticed it. I hope its still connected to one side and not on the street somewhere. I need to check tomorrow. Is anyone elses loose? I noticed when I plugged it in it would click into place, I had a feeling it would come loose. I probably need to tape it.

So, those aren't a plug and play replacement, right?

No they are not, you'll have to swap out the sockets to use them (see post 30).
They work great, are easy to do, and cost no more than $45 to do (Including bulbs), plus using those sockets opens the door to hundreds of different LEDs or incandescent bulbs, of any color, if you want even more options!

I just ordered 2 of the 921's using the link in your post. My total price with shipping was like $72 and that was just for the lights without the socket.

Do they come in a set of 2 and i just ordered 4?

$45?

I don't think they will fit anywhere else on our cars... possibly the license plate (though they may be too big), but V-LEDs sells some really nice ones that work perfectly for our license plates... Maybe you can call and cancel one pair?

Actually, now I think about it, they may fit in the dome light and trunk light... but they may be too big for that....

I can't seem to find the thread/post on the harness to make the DRL/FOG's and HALO's come on at the same time? I DON'T want to cut/chop OEM wires. Where do I get this?

Sorry if its on this thread, I am tired of searching, and did a search-couldn't find ?
