It's what it takes to get the paint to stick to plastic and the clear coat so it looks identical to the body color.

Here is Part one of the install Vid.

This one shows the removal of the stock antenna. Part 2 will show the install of the new one.

Great job with the video Chris. Anyone who's thinking about doing it themselves should get a real good idea of what's involved. Thanks for the extra effort in making the video.

Hi Becky, are you using replacement GM antennea's? Or, are they all original cores? The reason I ask is that I recently had a garage door mishap, and my sharkfin got ripped off and broken. The chevrolet body shop ordered 4 different shark fins from GM, and the best one still doesn't fit the roof perfectly like the original. You can slide a dime under it at all 4 corners. The new parts all say made in china, and they all fit a little different.

One of the perks of getting Black I suppose. Saved myself $139 because I sure as heck would've been doing this mod.

Glad to see someone is making this a little less painful for the average consumer

These would be the same parts, but by the sounds of it, did you possibly tweek the roof? We had an issue with 2 not fitting properly, but none of
the others have been a problem. There are 2 different ones, one for a sunroof and one without. I don't know what to tell you, but I'd think
someone at the body shop should be able to figure it out. Good luck

Chris did a great job with the video. With a little patience and the proper
tools, it's not impossible. The end result is awesome. Still can't believe GM
doesn't do this on the Camaro

GTAHVIT,GREAT job. I'm new to the forum but really appreciate the passion and genuine comradrie most members exhibit. One thing though-my Dad would of boxed my ears for pulling on the wires and not the retaining 'box'. Will be contacting Becky ASAP to order a painted antenna. Thanks again,RX SS

LOL

Welcome to the boards and thanks.

yeah... If I had not been trying to film and do it one handed, I woudl have been able to actually grab the connector. Mlee was actually able to remove the connectors from their mounts and use two hands and release them using the tabs...
