Hey guys! I'm the founder of MiFbody and the organizer of the MiFbody event. We were really honored to have the mule at our humble car show. It's only been going for 4 years and this year we had about 125 FBodies at the show even with rain predicted and a 10-minute cloud burst. This is the second year we've had the show at Kensington Metro Park in Milford, MI and GM has brought stuff to each show both years. Last year, Scott was gracious enough to bring the Camaro coupe concept and the Camaro convertible concept, and this year he brought a drivetrain mule. This year was also extra special to us because we not only were honored with Scott and the Camaro being there, but we also had Cheryl Pilcher, Al Oppenheiser, and John Fitzpatrick at our show. It was truly a treat I'll never forget. Here's a few more pictures of the 5th gen that I took:

They're high res and this forum doesn't auto resize so I can't just post them in IMG form, sorry guys.

Ah, and one last one -- here's the awesome entrance.

Unfortunately, I was so busy running around with the show that I couldn't get a lot of good pictures of the Camaro. The crew from GM stayed and had a Q&A session and hung out for awhile to answer any questions. The crowd eventually cleared to give chance for some awesome pics, but alas I didn't get a chance.

Oh trust me, it was the biggest surprise of the day. When Scott arrived, we talked for a few and he told me that the 5th gen would make an appearance but he didn't know how much of one. They had to tint the side windows with the darkest tint possible. Quite literally, if they didn't tint the windows, Al could not have stopped and parked because the interior was something that no one was allowed to see. He said if they DID tint the windows, then Al would be able to park the car and stay. I can't tell you how excited I was when I took the video and saw the tint!

Also, we did ask about the camo -- this car had the camo painted on prior to Bob's orders, so they didn't worry about removing the camo.

You know what—I really don't like those headlights. I hope they don't make production.

It's great to have you with us! So it was painted on! I was really wondering about that. I remember a close up of the camo and it was ...furry. Thanks for stopping in and we sure hope to see you around a bit more!

You know what happened to Shunt..... don't let yourself become the next victim!

You have to wonder what else they are hiding for the windows to be tinted so dark. They may SAY it's to keep the interior design secret untill it's finalized and ready for production, but you know, with everything else that's been going on, questions will be raised. I think we can get a court order that all Camaros in public from this point forward must not have ANY window tint.

THANKS FOR THE POST!!!!

BTW, I "know" that tall, skinny guy that was there too from another forum. He told me he's talked to Scott also. I'd bet that was a GREAT event!!!

PS- He's a well-respected Vette guy working for a well-known "tuner" shop. But he said, regrading the pre-pro: "Its nice. It is really BIG. It would be fun to see one road racing. This has been a long time coming and its about time these things hit the streets."

I can't agree more!

I hope to be "ONE" of the first to be putting a final production version on a road track! That's where the "unibody" construction of this beast, along with other GM/Delphi suspension refinements, will SHINE!!!

It's bugging the hell outta me.

Also, on the discussion to exhausts, just wanted to point out that I hope it's X-pipe and not y-pipe. Hell, make it an h-pipe or a variation of it. Just please no y-piping in that exhaust!

Thanks for crediting me on the pics. Scott had asked I post them over on Chirp Third. I haven't had time this week yet to get on here to post them. Now I just wish I had watermarked them! I'm sure they'll be showing up everywhere now!

They wanted the windows blacked out to hide the interior. It was still not fully finished and it's the last of the "secrets" about the car. You could see some through the windshield and parts appeared to be mocked in place. It appears to be very close style wise to the concept car. One thing I did notice when Al got in the car to leave, is that the side window retracts about 1/2" when you open the door then closes up into the weather stripping on the body. I'm sure that will cure a lot of wind noise and leaking issues that Camaros of the past have had.

As for the exhaust, I'm sure it will have an X pipe resonator like what the G8 has on it. My wife and I bought one a month ago and it has dual pipes from the manifolds, to the X pipe resonator, then dual pipes out to a resonator on each side then to a single inlet dual outlet muffler at the rear. I was really suprised to see how huge the muffler is on the mule.

Scott and the others were asking for everyone's opinion on the wheel color/finish as it "might" be part of an optional trim package.

This car is the power train test mule and per Al is "a LOT of fun to drive". It's possible it had a detuned LS3 in it and it for sure was a 6 speed stick. It was very quiet though even with the slight revs Al gave it. My wife's G8 is this same way though. I'm sure government regulations have something to do with it being so quiet.

While I had thought the G8 and the new Camaro would share the same suspension, Al told me that the Camaro has the next evolution of the Zeta platform that is even more refined than what is on the G8. This should be a KILLER handling/riding car since our G8 rides and handles AWESOME, even with the 19" sport wheel package with 245/40/19 tires.

As for the camo, it was painted on the car with a roller and was house paint according to Scott. The people at Oshawa broke out the duct tape and Sears weatherbeater and went to town! The tint was on the outside of the windows and was courtesy of Murrrays and the 3rd shift crew at the proving grounds!

Yeah, the furry in my guess is using tape that didn't really seal, so when they put the paint on it bled under the tape. It most certainly looks furry in person... reminds me of plaster strips or paper mache (spelling?)

Haha, only one person fits that description, and you're right -- Jason's not only well respected in the vette world, but well respected on our site regardless of him not owning an fbody. He brought the Katech LS7 Camaro to our show two years in a row and it was the show stopper whenever he started it up. Jason's a good guy though, he hangs out with us on Woodward quite often.
