October 18th 5gen meet in Hocking Hills (OHIO)

Meet in Circleville , Ohio SUNDAY October 18, 2009 between 9:00 and 9:30.-Meet at the car wash parking lot ( 811 E Main St ). We will be departing at 9:30 sharp and going out Rte. 56 towards Hocking Hill. (Food options for breakfast look poor including Lindsayís Bakery. I suggest people get breakfast on their own.)

Hocking Hills Route Ė Below is the route we will be taking through HH.
09:00 - 09:30 Meet at Circleville car wash 811 E Main St.

09:30 Depart Circleville taking SR-56 for 13.3 miles to Laurelville, then SR-180 for 7.9 miles, then SR-374 for 1.1 miles to Rock House

STOP #1. Rock House. There is an optional Ĺ mile hike at the Rock House. Upon departing the Rock House we will be taking SR-374 for 6.1 miles, then right on SR-664 for 2.9 miles, then left on SR-56 for 3.8 miles to Ash Cave

STOP #2. Ash Cave . There is an optional Ĺ mile hike at Ash Cave . Upon departing Ash Cave we will be taking SR-56 for .4 miles, then left on SR-374 for 1.1 miles to Cedar Falls .

STOP #3. Cedar Falls. There is an optional Ĺ mile hike at Cedar Falls . Upon departing Cedar Falls we will be taking SR-374 for 1.8 miles, then left of SR-374/SR-664 for .7 miles to Old Manís Cave

STOP #4.
Old Manís Cave. There is lots of hiking to do at Old Manís Cave. Lots to see and do including a gift shop, rest rooms and a snack shop. Upon departing Old Manís Cave we will be taking SR-664 for 10.7 miles to Olde Dutch Restaurant for a sit down meal to relax and discuss the dayís drive. Upon departing Olde Dutch Restaurant, everyone is on their own for directions home. Just press your blue button!

NOTE: Breakfast is on your own before meeting in Circleville and we intend to make it to the Olde Dutch Restaurant about 4:00 but could be later or earlier depending on how long we stay at certain places, traffic and how much we get stopped talking about the cars. Please bring snacks and drinks. I know there is a snack shop at Old Manís Cave but not sure about anywhere else.

PLEASE PM ME IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO. WE WOULD LIKE TO GET A CAR COUNT.

11 cars, cool! My daughter's friend that we're bringing might have stopped squeeing by the time we get to Circleville. She's a major Transformers fan and goes all fangirl every time she gets in my car, LOL. It's cute.

We're looking forward to the cruise!

What do you think about adding a poll to your thread for people to select dates they would be available for the Hocking Hills drive? (Polls are under the Thread Tools menu)

Maybe a change will work for most and allow LIB , Fen and some others to join us.

Be sure to check "Allow multiple choices" and "Make votes public".

Just a note, I think at least another car group is planning to be there as well ( Lamborghini/Ferrari) and sometimes the MG group comes as well , and a lot of families show up especially IF the weather is nice, there is very limited parking there ( when I was there about 5 years ago) and on this weekend IF leaves are changing etc....it becomes almost impossible to park, get to a grill or even set up a picnic lunch or whatever, several years ago I went with a car group, one guy drove through a Ky Fried Chicken, and brought a Lunch pack for everyone, and each couple paid for theirs accordingly....it was a lot of fun, sitting on the grass....good luck, IF weather is nice it is enjoyable IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN there, be careful, a lot of injuries and even some deaths occur when people slip from the upper rims and fall into the valleys...just my $.02....enjoy !

Thanks, and I was there last year when the Lamborghinis were there. For sure a site to see! I am not too concerned about the traffic/parking. Its more about the driving.

Done! Should have done this sooner! I'd like to keep the 17th as people have already commited but if the weather is terrible it will not work out. I can not the second weekend at all. I am fine for 17th or 18th. We are up to 12 cars. Thats a good number. More would work but I am happy with 12 as long as everyone shows....

Awesome, I put you as a yes. I really hope you can make it. There has been some others wondering about changing the date due to the threat of rain but I really can't unless we bumped it to Sunday. I think we are jsut going to shoot for the 17th this late in the game and if it rains, then oh well, I guess we try next year or something... just pray for nice weather!

I finished up a more detailed Hocking Hills document yesterday with our route directions, trail maps and other stuff. jrhaus76 reviewed and approved it. I'll print out the document and hand it out at the car wash.

Heinz really needs to be commended for his work! Wait till you see what he has done! It is perfect! Still working on the list but responses keep coming in, most no but oh well. Looks like right now we are looking less than 10 but thats ok. I am looking forward to just getting to drive my car. It has sat for over a week now! :(
