Charger SRT8 vs. Camaro SS

Close call performance wise. Honestly though I believe that they totally ruined the exterior styling. I always thought of the '70 model Chargers as the Iconic muscle car, and this doesn't due the car it's justice in the looks department.

the Camaro SS beat the challenger in 0-60 1/4 mile so it will be faster than the charger as well ... all the LX platform interiors are the same lmao ... gets boring but a lil more comfortable. the exterior is nice IMHO

Actually owners have gotten into the 12s with stockers, same with the Challengers. Most aren't, but it is the same with the Camaro, it should be a drivers race, IE the guy was playing catchup, so you had the better reaction time on him.

I figured they'd be somewhere around our performance level. I was going to buy one a couple years back until I actually saw one. :/

Yeah...if someone is 'catching up', that typically means you're the better driver, but they have the faster car.

He could have been faster if it wasn't 100% stock. The cars are so close that a couple bolt ons are enough to tip the odds in his favour.

I raced a 300c srt8 it was modded. (exhaust ,intake maybe tune )if he got the jump it was hard to catch up took a long stretch of road. if I got the jump I kept pulling away ..all driver I think ..in my stock SS manual

The V6 mustang could be faster than a SS if it wasn't 100% stock.

The only reason its a Charger is so it sells. Its targeted at the person who either had a Charger, or wanted a Charger back in the day. They threw the word HEMI on it. Now that those people are all grown up, they need a 4 door, comfy car, with reasonable gas mileage. They threw it all together and thats the Charger of today.

I doubt the Charger can handle half as good as the camaro.

The Charger SRT8 has a bit firmer ride and better handling than the Challenger SRT8, and the Challenger SRT8 seems to outslalom the Camaro in recent tests. Thus, half as good as the Camaro would not be very good at all.......

my bad.

I thought we were discussing the chally. not the charger. I would actually assume the s]charger can out handle the camaro as it comes in AWD. But the Challenger??? No way, that thing is a boat! Even in the videos the body roll on it reminds me of my toyota with blown shocks!

Can you show me this review???

I second the revealing of this review because I don't see how the SRT8 can outperform the Camaro in the slalom.

I didn't notice that any Challenger SRT8's have gotten into the 12's stock. I thought people were still complaining that it hasn't happened yet?

Thanks to the other poster for posting the review. The Challenger and Charger are pretty much identical under the body, but the Challenger SRT8 does have more body roll than the Charger SRT8. It seems folks complained that the Charger SRT was too low and firm..., so in '08 they softened it. Regarding feel, the SRT8's inherit the numb steering and feel of the Mercedes platform, so likely the Camaro will feel like a tighter handling car.

I disagree… I’d take a SRT8 Charger over a Challenger any day. I love the Chargers looks and interior. I don’t know why every wants their car to look just like the older versions.

We ran 12.7 in our 5.7L Challenger (Non SRT) on street tires. Lots of SRT Chally and Chargers in the 12's stock or with minor bolt ons like anything it comes down to the track, condidtons and driver. For instance I saw a Camaro SS run 14.4 last night, I know the car is capable of more, the driver just was not.

As far as handling goes I Road Course my SRT Charger and outhandle almost anything out there...last time out the only car that gave me trouble was a 911 GT3...you would be shocked at how a large car can handle when it has 50/50 weight distribution a solid chassis and great brakes.

I meant a stock Challenger SRT. I know it's a powerful car but it seems no one can answer the question: has a stock Challenger SRT hit the 12's? I KNOW the car can do it, but the question is if it happened.

If the SRT and SS were the same price, it would be a hell of a showdown.... But to honestly compare the two you have to ignore the bottom line.
