Do you regret getting black?

Don't get me wrong. I love black. Clean I believe it's the best color by far. But what a pain to keep clean!

I admit I'm very OCD. But everytime I look at my car I find another swirl mark or spot in the clear coat. I use Zaino and I follow every instruction to the T and I still get swirl marks.

I just cleaned my car tonight and noticed another spot in the middle of the hood. SO FRUSTRATING!!

Thoughts?

Everybody who gets a Black car usually learns to NEVER get one again. If you keep it garaged and don't use it, it's ok. But if you actually use it, it's FAR to much work. Usually the kids get black and as you get wise you get white or other light colors...

Black is SO awesome! I loved my black Regal GS even though it was a LOT of work. Ever since, I've always gone for dark metallics because it seems like the metal flake hides quite a bit of dirt & damage.

One thing I've never understood - why don't black cars get a dark or black primer? I'm sure there is probably a great reason for that, but then I know very little about painting. It seems like a dark primer would help hide the damage from rock chips (for example.)

My 69 is Black and I love it. However, I did not have the time to keep 2 Black cars clean so the new one is SIM. No regrets with SIM. Black is beautiful though when clean.

HELL NO!!!!! I don't regret it. It's the baddest color there is for this type of car. Nothing says muscle like a BLACK SS.

Blacks cool but I found weekly cleaning is essential.

I used to use zaino etc...but with black?

Its Eagle one car bucketless car wash...

California water black swipe and wipe (every time you swipe the black you wipe it to make sure its free of debris)

Then I use eagle one wax while you dry spray.

the whole thing is done in about 15 minutes

Summer months? Once a month I do the same as above but slap on a coat of Wolfgang..

next time...I'm going back to red..or silver.

NOPE! My first '82 Camaro RS was black (First ever newly bought (ordered) car!); my truck was black (2 of them); my Honda CRX Si pocket rocket was black; my Maxima was black; My Denali was Black; (I'm sure I'm missgin one or two); I've also had multiple black motorcycles! Current ride is Black & Blue - like me!

Blacked out all of the rear! Did all the lights too!

I bought one black car out of many over the years, and while I like the looks when clean, I would never buy another one.

Unless you are retired, forget the whole Zaino hype, it's ridiculous.

I've always polished with Meguiar's Gold Class and an Ultimate Detailing Machine random orbital polisher about every 1.5-2 months. I've just switched to the new Meguiar's NXT 2.0 and it's pretty nice.

The key to black paint is to use a power polisher like this to keep the blemishes off. And minimize the damage you do by using good micro-fiber towels that you PRE-WET, wring out, and then use them to dry like you would a chamois cloth. Not that big a deal.

My only regret, I'm gonna need to get my wife a sports car of her own. She likes to drive it as much as I do, she just won't admit it.

before i had my camaro i had a black '06 Ford Explorer and it def. sucked keeping it clean. I'm very anal in terms of how my car looks. So I decided to get a red camaro bc i aways thought red was a hot color for a muscle car, plus it would be easier to keep clean.

I wash my camaro usually twice a week, but as of now, i havent washed it for about 10 days (off and on rain) and it still looks really good even with rain spots and some normal dirt/dust....if you dont have the time/money/patience to have your car really clean all the time, dont get black.

although i do agree with other posts that NO other color looks better then a perfectly clean black car!!

I owned my black SS for 4 years. Tough as CRAP to keep clean.

Dude...use Meguiars polish in a three step application. Use the swirl remover first. then the polish, and then wax. I promise...it'll be cleaner than ever before.

USE AN ORBITAL BUFFER. Change out the bonnets often. I use 3 to apply and about 6 or more to take it all off.

I agree I think that black is the best color when it's clean but I wish I wouldve got a different color because there so much dust where I live and I didn't know that the micro fiber towels would leave swirls. I'm very picky and I have a hard time enjoying driving it because I'm so bummed about the swirls. I love the car but wish I could get it repainted already
