Stock exhaust...90-DB

Mach-X-L

The Mach-XL exhaust kit for your 2010 Automatic Camaro has 2 ½” mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust pipes all the way from your converters back. Solo’s 14” Mach-XL muffler is used to deepen the sound (28 decibel over stock) and add responsiveness to the car. The 4 cylinder mode on the automatic Camaro’s can cause a severe drone but not with Solo’s Mach-XL exhaust kit. This is a ZERO DRONE exhaust system. Just cut your stock exhaust pipes 24 ½” behind your mid-skid plate and slide on the Quantum Axle Back exhaust kit from Solo Performance. It’s just about that easy to get a wonderful sounding “NO DRONE” exhaust kit on your 2010 V8 automatic Camaro. 2 ½” T409 stainless steel mandrel bent pipe is used in conjunction wit 4 ½” T304 stainless steel exhaust tips and stainless steel polished tig welded resonators.

One of the biggest issues with aftermarket exhausts on the L99 is the change in exhaust tone when the engine transitions from 8cy to 4cy mode.
This change is exhaust tone is what becomes very annoying over time.

It took me a few weeks before I started getting annoyed by my GMPP axle back because of this. It's pretty much drone free, but its still quite annoying because of the change in exhaust tone around 1800 rpms due to the AFM.


So from what I'm hearing the Solo exhaust is no different (still changes tone due to AFM). And once you add headers it will make the difference even more noticeable.

I still see the only way around this is by turning off the AFM if you're planning an aftermarket exhaust setup on an L99.

The AFM is impossible to keep as a V8 sound, simply because it only uses 4 cylinders. You could turn it off with a tune for sure. We knew it was impossible to keep a V8 sound with only 4 cylinders, but we are confident that the 4 cylinder sound is not really that bad. I mean, when you compare it to a V8, it just doesn't compare...period, but you make the best with what you have. We wanted to get an acceptable sound out of it, but more importantly make sure there was ZERO drone!

We have not dyno'd it, but from test driving it, you can absolutely feel a noticeable difference in throttle response and overall power. The car seems to have woken up!

Correct....the drone is just one issue that sometimes has been associated with the L99 exhausts in general. The sound when the AFM kicks in is another matter. We feel that using the mufflers in our line has created an acceptable exhaust note for the AFM. Nobody is really going to like the sound of any 4 cylinder when they're used to the muscle car sound of the V8. We only hope that ours is more pleasant than what others have to offer.

I guess as always it is a matter of give and take...........better fuel consumption numbers = 4 cylinder traits. I wish GM would give you a choice. Has anyone with the L99 asked the dealer if they can turn it off? (I really haven't read the threads since I have the M6.

But, back to the SOLO System. Steve you guys are also offering this kit with the rectangular tips for the ground effects package right? Just curious.

We have a solution for the ground effects kit. We will include two extra sections of straight pipe, and two rectangular tips that work well in the GFX outlets. When your shop installs the kit, the tips can we welded into place in the spot that you please. This is what the extra sections of straight pipe are for. Some people like it farther in, and others farther out. This gives you the option of either.

The Afm doesn't kick in and out as much as the Camaro but it is noticeable.That being said it's not bad at all, it actually seems to be a bit deeper in 4cyl mode. I hope the Camaro acts the same witch I can live with.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. It was my IOM used for the design and final fitting of both kits. If anyone has questions I'll answer to the best of my ability

They will also delete the tips from the axle back and supply you with the square tips for your installer to weld on, this way they can fit them perfect. Steve would have to tell you if there is any charge or not for that, but I do not think so!

Absolutely..we can assure you that the L99 kit sounds awesome. We were really happy with the results!! We are currently running a group buy on the L99 kits.

We can send you the same tips as posted (rectangular), along with some extra straight pipe. You can have your shop weld on the tips as far in or out as you would like in the GFX outlets. There is no extra charge for this. We simply do not weld on the original tips for the kit, as the rectangular ones are supplied in their place.
