Solo Performance- L99 Exhaust Update with Pictures and Videos
All we can say is WOW!!!!!
Here is what I can tell you right now: Decibel readings: Stock exhaust...90-DB Quantum Axle Back...108-DB Mach-X-L...118-DB Mach-X-L The Mach-XL exhaust kit for your 2010 Automatic Camaro has 2 ½” mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust pipes all the way from your converters back. Solo’s 14” Mach-XL muffler is used to deepen the sound (28 decibel over stock) and add responsiveness to the car. The 4 cylinder mode on the automatic Camaro’s can cause a severe drone but not with Solo’s Mach-XL exhaust kit. This is a ZERO DRONE exhaust system. The smooth deep sound is best described as “Pure American Muscle.” The sound of power stays primarily outside the car where it needs to be. You can certainly hear when the car changes from 8 cyl to 4 cyl mode but there is no drone and you can hold a conversation with absolutely no extra effort. The interior cabin sounds beautiful on acceleration and quiet while cruising. Solo’s T304 Stainless Steel 4.5” tips finish off the Mach-XL in the style befitting this retro yet futuristic, soon to be classic, automobile. WOW ![]() ![]() ![]() Quantum Axle Back Just cut your stock exhaust pipes 24 ½” behind your mid-skid plate and slide on the Quantum Axle Back exhaust kit from Solo Performance. It’s just about that easy to get a wonderful sounding “NO DRONE” exhaust kit on your 2010 V8 automatic Camaro. 2 ½” T409 stainless steel mandrel bent pipe is used in conjunction wit 4 ½” T304 stainless steel exhaust tips and stainless steel polished tig welded resonators. This zero drone exhaust kit is very well priced at $449 including shipping. All necessary hardware is included in this kit. On acceleration the sound is deep and smooth. No popping on acceleration and you can hold a conversation at any speed without raising your voice. The automatic 4 cylinder mode is no problem for these incredible resonators. Zero Drone and a Beautiful Tone! WOW ![]() Both kits will be in a group buy soon....prices for the L99 will be as follows: Quantum Axle-Back- $449 shipped Mach X-L- $775 shipped Last edited by GOINGSOLO2; 10-03-2009 at 12:15 PM. |

One of the biggest issues with aftermarket exhausts on the L99 is the change in exhaust tone when the engine transitions from 8cy to 4cy mode.
This change is exhaust tone is what becomes very annoying over time. It took me a few weeks before I started getting annoyed by my GMPP axle back because of this. It's pretty much drone free, but its still quite annoying because of the change in exhaust tone around 1800 rpms due to the AFM. So from what I'm hearing the Solo exhaust is no different (still changes tone due to AFM). And once you add headers it will make the difference even more noticeable. I still see the only way around this is by turning off the AFM if you're planning an aftermarket exhaust setup on an L99.

I'm sure its a great exhaust (looks good and sounds good). I just want everyone to be aware of the AFM issue with the L99 and to seperate it from the word "drone". Many have confused the AFM issues with drone. Some of the aftermarket exhausts do have drone, but many do not. But all the aftermarket exhausts have a distictive difference in sound when the AMF kicks in (and this can be very annoying to many owners). The only way to not have the AFM issue (that I know of) is to retain the stock L99 exhaust (because its so quiet), or get the AFM tuned out. And as mentioned, once you add longtube headers, the AFM transition noise is multiplied.

I guess as always it is a matter of give and take...........better fuel consumption numbers = 4 cylinder traits. I wish GM would give you a choice. Has anyone with the L99 asked the dealer if they can turn it off? (I really haven't read the threads since I have the M6. But, back to the SOLO System. Steve you guys are also offering this kit with the rectangular tips for the ground effects package right? Just curious.

Thanks for helping us L99 owners.
I have an 07 Tahoe with AFM and a Gibson cat back dual exhaust. The Afm doesn't kick in and out as much as the Camaro but it is noticeable. That being said it's not bad at all, it actually seems to be a bit deeper in 4cyl mode. I hope the Camaro acts the same witch I can live with.

We can send you the same tips as posted (rectangular), along with some extra straight pipe. You can have your shop weld on the tips as far in or out as you would like in the GFX outlets. There is no extra charge for this. We simply do not weld on the original tips for the kit, as the rectangular ones are supplied in their place.

Is the cat-back system (non GFX) bolt-on for us do-it-yourself folks? No welding required?
