So your brother ignored the 5w30 recommendation of GM in his LS engine by using 10w?

Or am I missing something?

What octane gas was he burning? Maybe it was the octane. Let us know so we can avoid it. Thanks.

Why would you not follow the Warranty requirements in the owners manual?

What does this have anything to do with changing the cold cranking viscosity of the oil?

Both 5-30 and 10-30 have the exact same running temp viscosity. If the oil was the cause (which most likely is not the cause since the engine in the Z06 is notorious of blowing up to start with), it would have happened no matter if he ran 0-30, 5-30, or 10-30.

Again:

We found a winner here.

Why would 10W-30 keep you from blowing your engine. It really makes no sense. I hope this is a joke.

I have been running 15W/40 Mobil 1 Delvac in all my cars (Honda, Ford, Mazda) for the last 5 years.

I won't do it with my new Camaro (cause I'm scared )

But 20,000 miles down the road I'm sure I will switch over.
