I called my dealer the day after Camaro5 announced the Z/28 was a go and had him put my name on the list for the #1 to order and he did. I just emailed him to make sure I would get the car for MSRP with no markup, just like we did when we pre-ordered the camaro back in December. Now he writes me back and says this,

"I'm not sure yet. The Z28 will sell over MSRP, but I will make it very
competitive."

Competitive? I already told him I have my name on other lists at other dealerships that are offering MSRP at no markup, how can he compete with that? What a JackA**

I called the dealer about 5 miles from him and got it at MSRP

You realize they don't have to honor your place in line at all, right? It's so far out there's no telling what pricing will be, or when production will start.

Good for you! I test drove a USED Camaro SS yesterday and they wanted $42K for it!!!! It was used!!! That's more than new!

1- There has been no official word released yet

2- Why would any dealer "promise" MSRP on a product they know nothing about? For all we know whats coming could be a limited production car.... your not going to get that at MSRP.

The dealership I called only sells at MSRP, they have had this reputation for years, on the ZR1'S and new camaros all have been MSRP no markup

If you personally know the finance manager you can usually be assured that you won't pay over MSRP. I got one of the first GXP's in NC and I didn't pay over sticker. Every other dealership I called wanted a minimum of $2500 over MSRP.

I agree..How can you be put on the list for a car that hasn't even been officially announced yet and like shnomac said is most likely still 2 years away from hitting the lots. And we basically know nothing about the Z28 except for what we dream about on this forum lol. This isn't a Ferrari or something of sort, it's an American made muscle car. Come on...if you call a dealer for a car that is 2 years out and say I want one put me on the list of course he's going to think he can take you for every penny you have cause you have basically already told him that you are willing to do whatever it takes to get the car cause you want it that bad.

I would bet that most dealers will try and get over MSRP just like most dealers did on the regular SS when she first came out. And some people will pay over MSRP just to say they got a Z28 before the majority of everyone else.

promising MSRP this early is pretty crazy, good thing he didn't take a deposit, he'd probably be fired pretty soon....

A few salesman got fired over the same thing back in october november last year with the 2010 models

They can have a list..... there have been Z28 lists out there for a loooooooong time now.

I just dont see someone promising MSRP this early in the game.

I don't see why MSRP is gonna be a big deal. Tons of pre order R6P people (Myself included) got MSRP and even better deals back in October. People were saying it was impossible back then too.

Hell a few people were getting supplier or other discounts too. You just have to be willing to look a bit farther than 5 steps out your front door.

Just a hunch but, I bet there are TONS of dealers that are chomping at the bit for this car to hopefully come out so they can jack up the price. GUARANTEED!!!

It can happen. An engineer who worked for me years ago went to a dealer and got the #1 position for the first C6 Z06. If not mistaken he was given the GM discount as well..................based on whatever the pricing was at the time the car was built.............2 years later. All unknown, but the dealer would have allocation (big Vette sales) so he knew there would be one.

I agree you can get on a list.... I just dont think it is right that the OP was upset about a dealer not offering MSRP on a product that the dealer knows nothing about.

you ordered a car that does not yet even exist according to GM. You do realize the Z28 is well over a year maybe two away, right?

If the Z28 is put into production, how are you so sure it is going to be mass produced so a dealership can sell it to you for MSRP. No dealership will sell a special edition, low production vehicle for MSRP. I think you need to practice some patience like everyone else and wait to get an official word on anything.

Your dealer is an idiot. The idea that anyone would make an agreement to sell a nonexistent product at any price is ridiculous. In fact, I'm sure that you could ask this very dealer if a Camaro really transforms into a giant robot with cannons that your dealer will imagine this into reality as well and try to sell it. Let's not indulge these preposterous fantasies until they become real. When this product becomes available, you can buy it with the rest of us. In the meantime, leave your dealer to his or her foolishness.
