On the last cai I installed, i needed to unhook the battery so that the ecu would reset itself to the higher air flow. Is that required here as well. Also is there a link somewhere to installation instructions. Thanks.

Hello i007spectre,

We always recommend disconnecting the negative battery cable for a couple of reasons.

1. Safety
2. To allow the computer to relearn the parameters of the new Cold Air Intake system!

Any other questions, please feel free and let me know.

Thanks,
David

On my old car unhooking the battery reset trips, radio, basically everything other than the actual car mileage. Anyone know if the camaro has any kind of backup. so I dont have to restart/ reset everything.

so with the ECU, is there really going to be a increase in HP. or the ECU will just suppress it.

Hello trudawg660,

If you use a system that is thrown together and not properly tuned and calibrated, then you can run into issues with the MAF sensor not being able to read the air flow properly and that will typically result in less power and performance.

The AIRAID system has been specifically designed and calibrated for the 3.6L, so you will not run into any issues with the MAF sensor or with drivability.

Any other questions please let me know.

Thanks,
David

OK....Does that mean you HAVE TO disconnect the batt. ?
& for how long ?
Why the Negative cable ?
What if you do NOT disconnect it ,what will the results be ??
I am NOT talking about #1 safety !

Hello 97one,

If you do not want to disconnect the battery that’s your choice, however we do recommend that you do so the computer can relearn the parameters of the new inductions system.

You will typically only need it off for about 10mins.

If you do not disconnect the battery, the vehicle could be just fine; however we have found that it does help to disconnect the battery, to allow the computer to relearn the new parameters.

Thanks,
David

David,
Then I guess it would be ok to not make the disconnect, then after doing my tests if I do not find improvements.
I then could do the disconnect and test again, right ??

Thanks,
97one

Hello 97one,

I am not sure what "Tests" you are referring to, however disconnecting the battery is a very simple step, and the choice is up to you.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

Hello JohnZ,

The systems just got released, so I have not yet heard if they will be CARB legal.

It's always a good idea to hold onto the stock air box, just incase, plus you will not have to smog the car for 4-5 years.

I will be happy to update everybody as I hear more about the CARB certification.

Thanks,
David

Looks like you could pull fuse #5 and #20 (in the engine bay fuse block)... even easier than unhooking the battery...
