Stupid question re PDIM

Did a search and couldn't find an answer but is the PDIM what we have now (usb port) or is it an add on. The chevy web site lists it as an option to add it and thats it's available Q4 2009 but hasn't it been around for a while? My ipod works fine so does it add functionality or is it the same thing?

It's the same thing you get if you buy a 2LT or 2SS or add the Connectivity and Convenience package to the 1LT.

It's for those with the LS, 1LT w/o C&C or the 1SS.

The PDIM is essentially the USB port, but it is actually the PDIM module, USB port, and wiring. See the following :

Yes. The 1SS was meant to be the stripper go fast model. If you wanted all the crap that slowed you down, you upgraded to the 2SS.

well that just.... sucks. I don't understand how having C&C in a 1SS would make that much of a weight difference? does not matter as I would be getting a 1LT with C&C anyway .

Its more about streamlining production than the specific weight difference. Then the accumulated weight difference (and cost) is what diferentiates the two. Theoretically they could offer every single thing from the 2SS on the 1SS as an option, but that would be expensive and a pain in the ass for producing the car.
