DETROIT — The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible appears to be speeding toward reality, according to Chevrolet Vice President Brent Dewar. He said in a Web chat on the GM FastLane blog late Wednesday that the convertible was privately shown to Chevy dealers this week.

"We are working on the specific timing, but it will come out soon," Dewar wrote.

There were fears that GM would scrap the model as a cost-cutting measure. Dewar was asked if Chevrolet will bring back the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 in 2011, and his response was not encouraging.

"We have not officially decided to bring back the Camaro Z28," he said.

Could just be that they do not want to "officially" announce it till it gets closer to the time of being produced, or they decide what the Z28 will actually offer as an engine, looks, different parts, etc. etc. I think that it's coming back just still might be a year or so before they "officially" announce it. Just IMHO though.

I personally hope they don't bring back the Z28. The second the Z28 hits the market, my 2SS RS is no longer king.

Oh hell...

It's officially unofficial that the official return of the unofficial Z28's production will officially be started in Oct of 2011 (or so)....unofficially, of course. That is the most "official" information that can be divulged at this time. ...on the record, of course...

GM needs to get past it. As if the announcement from .....um....who was it?!?!?! ....wasn't good enough. Shoot. Now ALL the GM people are talking about it and one guy is going to backstep?

They aren't gonna make the announcement for awhile I think. But who cares? Everyone knows in their hearts its gonna come back, so whatever.

Hey, there's always gonna be a better car. The 2011 2SS/RS will probably be better than the '10s because they'll work out more of the bugs. You have an awesome car, and if the Z is even made, it'll be like 2 years before it is out anyway. And when/if it is, you'll STILL have an awesome car.

While I probably won't buy a Z (isn't 400 hp enough for anybody?

) I have no problems w/ them making it.

Yeah, I remember a couple years ago when I first found this website, when it opened. Those darn 'rumors' of a 2006 Camaro Concept.

Never came true I tell ya...

I think we've got the most official anouncement we're gonna get for awhile. I don't think GM wants to telegraph to SVT exactly what they have planned yet.
