The article says there is only a "slim chance" that they are banned.

True...but this is the second violation of the same patent, so I read in another article. The first time they got a slap on the hand....hopefully, they'll be plenty more forceful this time around.

It sounded to me like the lawyers for this firm weren't all that sharp. Sounds like the specified vehicles instead of drivetrains.

I think you have to specify a product. A drive train isn't a product.

WOW. Wouldn't that be funny? Seems tough to believe that Paice would have the financial oomph to win this one tho...

They'll probably just give the plaintiff a big sum of money like the last case.

Why do you want the Prius banned? They save on gas so we can use it!

Wouldnt you rather actually beat the competition rather than winning by default?

When the press says the Prius "could" be banned, it's like when they say a perp "could" get 20 years, but in the end all he gets is community service or something. It's 99% likely that the plaintiff gets a ton of money and probably royalties from future Prius sales. Same thing happened when Research in Motion (makes Blackberries) lost some patent suit; there was no way Blackberries were going to get banned...

If I'm not mistaken, Toyota designs their batteries for LOW COST and not recyclability Thus, prius batteries will be hard to dispose of...and may end up in landfills.

Chevy made theirs to be recycled, and has vendors ready to do so. Just what I heard at a chevy meeting.

Toyota uses NiMH batteries which are much more toxic and difficult to dispose of than Lithium Ion which is used in most current consumer electronics and the Volt.

...And if Chevy doesn't advertise that when the Volt comes out, they're idiots.

*hint*hint* to any GM folks reading the board.

Its sort of a non issue. Anybody that really cares about those type of things will have that information well in hand before the Volt even hits the streets. It is a nice little footnote though to help put Boi-otas (Toyota fanbois) in their rightful place.

IMHO, they should just give a few cars away to the more politically active and verbally opinionated actors and stars to get the word out. Those people live for that S**t. Ever watch those people on Leno or Letterman? they always find a way to work it in and somehow manage to turn it into a ten minute commercial for whatever green product they got on the cheap or free.

Price of the car for a ten minute pitch DURING the show, instead of more money for a 30 second slot while people are flipping through the channels...

If I'm GM I'm all over that like a fat kid on cake.
